KINRISAR

The Navy has taken shelter for the winter in the capitol city of Doluhre. Many of the ships are battered from a long period at sea as well as significant combat. The recently weathered storms did not help. Several of the most wounded ships sank during those trying weeks. Supplies and repairs commence immediately upon making port in Ulruz. Cordage and new sails are commissioned and taken aboard all ships of the fleet. The Infantry divisions take up residence in the garrisons of the Ulruz military. Cross-training with their legionnaire counterparts begins in earnest in preparation for defense of Doluhre.

Piracy in the western seas of Kinrisar increases. A relief ship, the Bezir’s Jewel, en route to Crolon from Prea Abo was apparently taken by a particularly vicious pirate. All the supplies were taken and the crew and passengers put to the sword for sport. Other atrocities were witnessed by a priest of Alyhndro and a ranger of Horun, who managed to escape during the night-time attack.
A group of brave individuals along with Alyhndro’s priest were able to relocate the supplies in Crolon and secure them for the temple of Os there. Some questions about their methods have been raised, but the final opinion is one of thanks. The ship Arraba was implicated with this episode and a sailor by the name of Yinbar. He and the ship slipped out of the harbor in the night to the Western Sea.

Refugees continue to leave Tibo. The sea lanes are closed down somewhat due to the winter storms and the pirates. Surrounding villages find their ranks swelling from those seeking to leave the targeted city. There is some unrest in the countryside as villagers begin to resent their new neighbors and their “city” attitudes. The few Infantry units in the area are hard pressed to keep peace.

The Smoking Claw is blamed for more abductions in the area. There are accusations of membership, but no proof is offered. The local woodsmen report an increase in the number of strange encounters in the forests. Several tombs have been found opened as well. Stories of undead walking the night also circulate more freely. Of course, all of these things are “normal” for the city of Prea Abo.

The capital is quiet. All attention is focused on the major military operation in progress in Ulruz. A representative of several large gnome clans requests audience with King Hadri during this time of quiet. He presents the official opposition of the clans he represents to Kinrisar’s involvement in the civil wars of Ulruz. Their position is that the usurpers of their lands should be allowed to grind themselves into the dust of the plains. This will better allow the gnomes to return to their ancestral homelands in freedom. King Hadri listens to the legate’s position intently and then dismisses him without further comment.

Pirate activity increases inside the Elf Sea. One incident of note involved a ship sent from Prea Abo to Crolon by the priests of Os. The ship was taken and burned to the waterline by pirates. A single survivor, an elven priest, escaped and was able to coordinate efforts of a small group to thwart the pirates' plan and recover the stolen cargo of medicines and supplies for Os' Temple in Crolon.

Rhaavin

Nothing of consequence occurs, most of the suspicious mutterings of the past have been forgotten and all of Rhaavins populace focus on the Pirate hunting contest. Needless to say any pirates in the region are likely none too thrilled with the fact that their being brought in as bounty is considered a game...

Mittendien

As snow begins to fall, the Kingdom's vigilance gradually slacks. The goblin armies expected to swarm out of the wild forests fail to appear, and even bounty collection reaches its lowest rate in months, despite the increased reward. Everything appears to be settling back to business as usual.

A fisherman on Lake Valdorane brings up an unusual catch: A dagger, inscribed with a seal from near the end of the Age of Gods. It is taken to a sage in Marzen, but the fisherman, sage, and dagger all disappear without a trace.

Caedmon

On the home front, the controversy of the new adamantine found in Egan is still very much a hot topic. King Dolan has proclaimed that of this new and precious resource, half belongs to the crown and is to be used for crown purposes only. The remaining half is to be administered by Clan Grady, since the mines of Egan are under their regency.

The Northern Army activation is progressing well though slowed by winter, it should be complet by spring. So far there have only been minor casualties due to skirmishes with the giant insurgence. No one knows why they are there and any attempts at diplomacy have been futile.

In foreign matters, news from the Academy’s observers is filtering back from the Ulruzian front. Students at the Academy are even now beginning to study the conflict’s early stages.

Armed with the latest reports from the Ulruzian front, King Dolan feels that it is time for Caedmon to make its military mark on Aerde. Dolan, prepares 2 regiments of the Southern Army for foreign deployment to aid Antonius, whose situation is deteriorating.

News of the Cryndon port town being built attracts attention of the trading clans, and envoys are sent to open discussions on new trade.

The tomb of the unknown soldier found in Lorlynia, has caused many followers of Brand to peruse the histories in search of who this warrior could be. There are some who speculate that it could be the Marshall, leader of the goodly forces during the God War.

Ulruz

Both sides settle in for the winter, exchanging only minor skirmishes. The Emperor dies of natural causes, leaving Antonius his designated heir. Antonius, despite the rumors that his inheritence of the crown came at the point of a sword, seems genuinely saddened by the loss and holds services grand and vast, appropriate for the passing of such a great Emperor.

Caedmon's initial military advisors arrive and begin planning for the arrival of the Caedmon troops, which are not far behind. A suitable bribe to the renegade Prince's nominal allies, the centaurs, will guarantee the mercenaries a path to Ulruz and secure supply lines through Centaur territory. At the same time, Cryndon recognizes Antonius' right to rule, cutting off any who would use their traderoutes to supply the rebels. Lorlynia sends two wings of Seledyne Rangers on giant eagles to aid Antonius, feeling him the most worthy. Antonius reluctantly accepts this, yet another, honor debt.

Lorlynia

The coming of winter and the first snows bring mysterious lights in the northern sky around Idenynia. Undead roam freely across the land north of the army gathered in the besieged city. Many old gravesites and family tombs are found plundered and cleared of remains. Calima, an ancient elven city sacked by the orcs a century ago, is believed to be the focal point for all the undead activity in the area around Idenynia. Thor Emblem sends many groups to investigate the fallen elven city and find out what is going on. None sent have returned as of yet.

Word of Antonious' plight in far of Ulruz reaches the ears of Prince Telendor through Caedmon. The Prince immediately send two wings of Seledeyne Rangers to help Antonious keep his throne. Many question the troops being sent to far off Ulruz at such an important time, but the Prince only responds, "General Antonious seems an honorable and able leader with his head firmly on his shoulders. What more should we ask for?"

The magical city with no name remains a mystery. No one can agree where it is located at because reports put in all corners of the kingdom.

The heavy snows in the middle of winter finally stops even the mindless roaming of the undead. The only sound heard through the forest is the occasional snapping of a tree limb that has been over burdened with it's share of snow. It's almost as if the forest is holding it's breath to see what the spring will bring..........

ARGOSSEA

Snow is the theme of the season. Snow early, and snow often. The snows which started in the north in the fall increase as winter begins, shutting off the mountain passes nearly everywhere aside from the capitol of Dunmoor.

Roads to the forest in the northern settlements and eastern settlements of the kingdom are quickly made impassable, and remain that way for the rest of the season. Due to the continuing strike in Asgalun, there are few available to restore these roads, as the merchants hire up men left and right to secure the ground roads.

The King, who in his new reign has never dealt with such a harsh winter, is caught quite unprepared by all of the snow, realizes belatedly that he has no way of communicating with any of the cut off towns. He tries to have his ministers keep the population calm, but rumors abound that the Boomerang River - Argossea's eastern border - has frozen over...

Sages predict a surge of births in the next year's autumn.

Thoradur

Many of the watch towers on the northern border and on the Great Steppes are finished. The dwarves of Falinus sleep easier knowing that they will more likely have advance warning of orc raids in the future.

Heavy snows fall as they do in most winters. Dwarves bundle up in their homes or underground.

Frost giants come down from their Stoneroot peaks to raid steadings and towns in Dalir (southwestern Thoradur).

Miners just north of the Valindin River in Dalir break through to an underdark complex infested with troglodytes. The creatures do not venture out into the cold surface world but the dwarves of the region cry out for help once the warmer spring months arrive.

Paludosus

The undercurrent of political tension continues inside the kingdom but little official news is forthcoming, outside the kingdom the raids and skirmishes between the barbarian tribes of the Serevan Plains have tailed off as winter takes its hold, but most expect the conflicts to resume in Spring.

Reports from the province of Karnatkaria highlight unusual activity among the Orcish tribes in the western plains and border settlements have been warned to prepare for possible attack to patrol against incursions by Orcish warbands.

In the South of the kingdom news has spread of a large adventuring band that has returned from Shatterstone with large amounts of gold and uncut gemstones prompting an noticeable increase in activity in the area as adventurers and fortune hunters attempt to replicate such success.
