Wireless router help needed, please!

Here is the problem.
My girlfriends computer has a wireless router (linksys) connected to her dsl modem. Her primary computer picks up the signal just fine, her laptop which has a linksys wireless card picks it up fine too.

My laptop and her sisters computer pick up the signal, bit it seems to "reboot" every 3 minutes.

It will disconnect and say there are 2 available connections, and ya need to reconnect to the modem.

How can I fix this? its really really annoying.

What happens if you hardwire both other machines to the linksys?

its a wireless router, the whole point is to not need 100ft cables and stuff. I can easily run a wire from one room to the other, but that doesnt solve the problem.

the laptops what are they using for wireless cards?
What version of Linksys router is it? a 54g/speedbooster or an 11b version?

Does your highspeed service use special software?

Her sisters computer has a standard pci wireless card in it. Her laptop has a linksys wireless card, when it connects it says 54g/sec so its prolly the speedbooster.

her laptop and primary computer stay connected with no problem.
Her sisters computer and my laptop keep disconnecting every 3 seconds, and a message pops up that a wireless connection was detected.

Does either one of the problem machines work when the other is not trying to access the network (turned off, etc)?

It may be that the broadcasts between the two are interfering with each other.

I had this connection issue at school, though I'm not entirely sure how it got resolved. I'm also no expert in wireless communications, but I do know that wireless-equipped machines can network with each other, peer-to-peer.

The earlier suggestion was for troubleshooting purposes. If you hardwire the 2 working machines and then test with the two others, do you still have a problem. It helps isolate the issue.

The likely cause is that you have a high speed wireless router and the two working machines are talking at the high speed. The other two are 11Mb wireless and the router is struggling to communicate at both speeds.
See if you can update the drivers on the non-working wireless cards.
Also... In the wireless setup on the non-working machines instead of looking for the fastest connection speed, set it to 11Mb so it doesn't actually try and connect at the higher speed. This might help.

You could also set the working cards to 11Mb to see if that solves the problem, effectively slowing things down. 11Mb is probably plenty of bandwidth for 4 computers anyway and might provide the stability you are looking for.
