One of my librarian friends passed this on to me so I thought I'd share. And it's right in my home town! Sounds kind of interesting...
That looks quite interesting. The James Tiptree Jr. Award presentation alone makes it worth attending. Do you plan on attending?

Call them "ladies", I'm sure you could pick them up (assuming you bathe on a regular basis ;)

I assure you I bathe far more often than your typical "comfortable" shoe wearing feminist!

It's a toss-up over who's hair is shorter though.

;)

wow, wish I lived anywhere near wisconsin....

This sounds interesting not just for the feminist slant but the overall acedemic nature of it... I'd love to be able to hang out for a weekend with fans of sci fi, fantasy and gaming who nonetheless wouldn't respond to my random tangents with "don't think too hard about it" and "its just a game". ;) I like analysing things, but most of the people I've hung out with either don't know the source material I'm musing on or react with fear and confusion to even casual intellectual digging in it. :( But something like this looks to combine my favorites in both geek and nerd culture. :D

I would love to go to this. We used to have a pretty decent literary con down here every year. It was great to be able to sit and talk to writers and other fans.
