Wish vs Miracle

If the spell is a means to contact a deity, there are two options. It simply doesn't work, or the rogue 'bluffs' the deity that there is a cleric of it calling. ;)

Three options (at least):

1. The spell does not work.
2. The rogue "bluffs" his way through using UMD and maybe even Bluff.
3. The diety smites the rogue for even attemtping anything so bold. :)

Let's get back on the original intent of this thread..

The conclusion was the duplicating spells freely (no xp cost) for a Cleric is okay, but it would be overpowered for a Sorcerer. What about Wizards? Should they have a way of doing it ?

I don't think it was balancing via RP.

I think the intent was not to allow spontaneous casters to copy spells of both types at will for no XP cost.

Unfortunately they decided to add sorc-type-casters to the divine side later on, which makes the point sort of moot, but I imagine at the design meeting that's what went on. Wish would be the A#1 Sorc Spell otherwise because it would always be useful to cast, where-as now Sorcs really have limited use for clogging up a 9th level Known slot with a spell that's going to hit them for big XP every time they cast it.
