Witch Hunter Robin

OK, I can now honestly say I have seen my first complete anime series. Yay, go me! And I gotta say I dug this one, too. The artwork on it kinda reminded me of certain pieces in the D20 Modern book, actually. I see what some people meant about the ending, though, and how several things are left up in the air, as if a sequel series was/is planned.

Actually, I've dug most of the anime I've seen up to this point, which admittedly only consists of a few episodes each of Rurouni Kenshin (sp) and Inuyasha, and the first half of the Vampire Princess Miyu OAV.

Has anybody else been watching this? I'm sure the fansubs have been floating around for a while, as I think the series is actually like two years old or so.

Yes, it is, and a good series at that...26 piece story.

I like the artwork much more than most Anime style cartoons, but I have to say that the story doesn't jive with my suspension of disbelief.

Yeah, I've seen a few episodes. Sadly, I wasn't impressed. I wanted to like it, but I didn't.

I have the first disc of this coming from Netflix, so I hope to see what all the buzz is about. I've heard some very positive things, so far.

But couldn't Robin have some power better than setting things on fire?

Interesting... I saw an Adult Swim card during the show, where some message-board person asked the exact same question. Word for word.

I'd say setting things on fire is a very good power if the thing doesn't need to be combustible (which seems to be the case). Robin also seems to have a potent anti-witch defense power, more so than the witches she fights anyway.

At least she didn't get stuck with the first episode's villain witch power. The awe-inspiring ability to TRIP people!

Yes. My friend Hamid writes the cards, and I was just citing one:

Someone was saying how Robin should have a cooler power than setting things on fire. And we were like, yeah, that's not so cool.

Oh yeah, except for the SETTING THINGS ON FIRE!

Only thing to keep in mind is that the first disk and probably the majority of the second will be the one shots before they get into the main storyline in the third and fourth. It's kinda like X-Files set-up, in that you have little one-off stories before the main shebang.
