Witch Hunter

Ok, I know that the author of Paradigm Concepts' Witch Hunter (http://www.paradigmconcepts.com/) Frequents these boards. Tell me why I want to buy this game rather then Solomon Kane for savage worlds http://www.peginc.com/Press/KanePrints_July242007.pdf

As a Savage Worlds fan who can't wait to get his hands on Solomon Kane, I can tell you why I'm buying a copy.

WH is going to have a lot more support than SK off the bat, and the settings should be roughly compatible. (As it stands my SK campaign is going to steal liberally from Pirates of the Spanish Main, Northern Crown, 7th Sea, and Witch Hunter).

I'm very interested in the Dark Providence living campaign. I enjoy the Living Greyhawk campaign but really don't attend enough cons and game days to really keep up with it. I'm also not a big fan of the whole 3e/3.5 rules set. As a huge fan of swashbuckling rpgs, I'm really happy to be able to hook into this sort of network of them at cons.

But to play that, I figure I gotta have the core rules.

I'm intrigued by the concept, but I'd like to know more about the system.

In particular, I'd love to see a character sheet. Is one available online?

Yesterday was the first time I'd read about Witch Hunter and I was hooked in an instant. I'll earnestly try to procure a copy down here in Australia.

We are carried by Walrus and Carpenter, the major Australian distributot, so you should be able to get your copy soon.

Below is a link to the Witch Hunter PDF Preview we have:

http://www.paradigmconcepts.com/arcanis/WH_Preview.pdf

Within is the WH Character Sheet, although it has instructions on where everything goes and what page number the information can be found, but it should give you a basic idea of what it looks like.

For the actual WH Character Sheet, you can go here:

I picked up a copy on Friday, and I'm really impressed with Witch Hunter. While I've loved just about everything Paradigm does (especially Arcanis), to me Witch Hunter is their crowning achievement.

The background for the game is really compelling, and they did a great job with describing the state of the world in 1689. I love alternate history horror types of games anyway (especially games like Deadlands), and Witch Hunter falls firmly into that camp. The Orders of Soloman given in the book weren't what I was expecting- they are a lot broader in their scope and offer more RP opportunities than the grim-faced Puritans I was expecting. I also like the dice pool system for the game- it looks like it would run really smoothly and with minimal book referencing, which is important in a game with this tone. The one thing I wish this book had more of were adversaries- enough hints were giving in the gazeteer of the world about different creatures that I want MORE! Fortunately, the Grand Tome of Adversaries is due out in Nov, so this will be a short-lived problem. Between this and Soloman Kane, I can't wait to run a witch hunter type of game. Thanks Paradigm!

Witch Hunter: The Invisible World is set in an "alternate history" version of our Earth, in the year 1689. The alternate history comes from the fact that "magic" exists, though not on the epic scale as that found in D&D-like worlds. Hedge magic, Animism, Necromancy and Hermetic Magic work and are wielded by a few.
Sound's almost like it has echoes of the Anime Full Metal Alchemist. Supernatural abilities and encounters, alternate or perhaps parallel history.

I really like this idea, I might look into this system. If I do it will be the first non-WotC product I'll get into.

Good luck!

Several friends of mine played WH at Origins, and speak very highly of it.

I just picked up the book yesterday; we'll likely be trying to play PCI's Living-style modules for it.
