I've probably played more dwarves than any other race. Humans are second.

I think that there's some facet of my own personality in every character I create. And yes, I am a stubborn grudge-bearing beer-drinker.

The Human Target said:
But I do love Halflings.

And not "I have hairy feet and like to stay at home, yet for some reason am an adventuring thief" hobbit halflings.

I mean weird semi-nomadic cool Halflings.
*cough* kender *cough*

And most humans like to stay home, too. Adventurers are supposed to be exceptional. ;)

Although I'm a 5'10, normal build kind of guy... I really identify with the "screw you guys, I'll take that giant on myself!" angry little ambitious halfling.

I identify with the half-elven way of life the most, i think. Having the practicality and desires of humanity intermingled with the joie-de-vivre and taking each day as it comes like the elves.

Humans, elves, and half-elves are what I commonly play. Every once in a while I'll roll up a dwarf, but they don't usually last too long (the 20' movement kills me). I've played a halfling once. Never played a half-orc or gnome.

I mostly play humans because I can best identify with them and it's easiest for me to come up with a wide range of character types. Elves I play because I like their elegance. Half-elves I play in roleplaying-heavy campaigns where the mixed blood of the character will cause some interesting roleplaying situations (I prefer the old "feared and mistrusted" half-elf to the "master diplomat" half-elf). I'd like to play a half-orc sometime for the same reason; I just haven't had the opportunity yet.
