Wizards and Archivists Spells?

Everytime you level up and get new spells do you have to pay to find these new spells and do you have to pay to pen them? Its a rather important question to me as my Character just traded out 3 levels of fighter for 2 wizard and 1 archivist via a rebuild quest and im coming up with 1000 gp pecies just for penning alone which is pretty steep as our DM is playing what seems like a low wealth game, also are these free spells restricted to core aka PH.

You get 2 spells/level known for free when you get a level in Wizard, in addition to your starting spells known which consist of all cantrips and 3+ Int mod first level spells. None of these spells are restricted to core. It works that way for the Archivist as well, though he can only learn spells off of the cleric spell list for free. If he wanted to learn, say, Faerie Fire, he'd have to copy it off of a scroll.

Note that a wizard does not have to pay these costs in time or gold
for the spells she gains for free at each new level. She simply adds
these to her spellbook as part of her ongoing research.
