How bizarre. They can do ALL of that with vBulletin (the software they already had...)

We have it all right here on EN World. The only bit we don't have is the activity update list.

I think the reason they didn't is that Wizards' core site is done in ASP, and vBulletin is PHP based; the whole issue with the old forums was that they wanted Single Sign On (SSO) but their forums are incompatible with the rest of the site (that was half the reason the Gleemax fiasco). These new forums, I'm not sure what they're written in since they're using URL rewriting, but I'd wager that they're .NET based so there can really be one unified platform.

They way the default icon is a guy in a hoodie is hysterical
I gotta say, that caught my eye too. I wouldn't call it hysterical though. (More cute or amusing.)

I gotta say though, I really like the new forums. For a beta, it looks like they got a lot right. I've also seen some changes in the past day that seem to address things posted here. I love them. I think that they're going in a good direction with these changes.

HOW DARE YOU NOT HAVE AN ACTIVITY UPDATE... uh, whatever that is.

After looking around a bit, the thing that strikes me as most odd is: OneSite seems to boast very good ad targeting & tracking, but that's the only thing they don't want to do, compared to a site like this one (which actually has ads on it).

I actually like it. The D&D theme is my favorite, though the Magic one is nice. I don't mind the whitespace (which is somewhat large at my resolution). In fact, I think I like it better than Facebook, which I have had problems getting into, as this seems to have more of a point to me.

I am STILL not able to log in because it won't save changes to my profile (some of which, in any event, I object to having to make - why do they need to know my zip code, and what about non-US customers who don't have one?). The new boards are an epic fail, at least from where I sit.
