Wizards of the Coast has released their new sci-fi TTRPG Exodus, which ties into the upcoming video game of the same name. This week, Wizards posted the Traveler's Handbook and the Exodus Encyclopedia for sale on their Exodus webpage. The new RPG was designed by James Ohlen, the lead developer of the Exodus video game as well as past hits like Baldur's Gate 2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Based on a free-to-download character sheet and a description of the TTRPG, it appears that the Exodus TTRPG uses the 5E game system, but with updates to make the game sci-fi themed. The Traveler's Handbook comes with four Exodus-themed classes, with two subclasses as well as various weapons and six powerful "Traveler Dynasties" that appear to be in-game factions. Meanwhile, the Exodus Enclyclopedia includes stat blocks for various constructs, Celestials, and human NPCS, as well as new items.

The Exodus video game is set to be released in 2026 and is intended to be a AAA video game available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

It's fighting a fight with someone that has more resources. I doubt they'd pick that fight in this case
True, but Traveller is a long established trademark for a space themed RPG. At least in the US, trademarks have to be defended or they can wind up being lost. And a difference of the one l is fairly subtle. Especially when being used for a title on a book for a 2nd space themed RPG. But like I commented, I really hope that the two companies have worked things out. The last thing either needs is spending a bunch of money on lawsuits while dealing with tariff hell. Much better that the money be spent on making games.

Can someone tell me what the classes are and maybe a little detail on each? I don't know a single thing about this property, but I desperately want a solid starting point for sort of a d20 Modern based on the 5E engine (and Everyday Heroes is not what I was looking for).

The book says Exodus in big letters, and then in small letters uses the everyday English word traveler.

There is no way Mongoose could hope to do anything in a lawsuit, there is no there there.

Wizards of the Coast quietly released its Exodus RPG, and it's just DnD in space

"The Cataphract class operate specialized Mechs, for example, while Rangers partner with Awakened animals that have the same sapience as post-humans."
Interesting, so it's another "Max Level is 10" DND 5E type deal. Hmm, lot of growing options for low level play between this, Everyday Heroes, and Lord of the Rings 5E.

Also, the Constellation Tattoo system seems like it would be a nice thing to jack FOR low Level/Max is 10 style 5E games.

"Your stats and skills also scale more rapidly, thanks to a Constellation tattoo that boosts a stat or adds a skill proficiency with every level up. Plus, you get the usual Ability Score Improvements at levels four and eight."

I guess the effect is that a character who maxes out to 10th level will have high stats and skills compared to a 10th level D&D character, but their proficiency bonus and HP are capped out. Not 100% as to the level of grit being simulated in this new game, but for a lot of genres, that probably makes sense.

People keep saying that but cases have been filed over far less. Often settled or dismissed, but filed anyway. Common use traveler may be why Marc Miller used traveller. But it might come down would the average person be confused between Traveller and Traveler when both are used on a space based RPG book? Again, hopefully there was some communication between the two companies and all this is settled.
