Wow, the big news just doesn't stop. I am not at all surprised and in fact I thought I'd previously heard news or rumors that some other group was going to pick it up (WizKids, does that sound familiar to anyone?)

Scary, isn't it?

Is this the last big news from Wizards for a while, or are the stories going to just keep coming?

(Do you think they thought all the messageboards were a bit dull and wanted to inject some controversy to spice things up? ;))

Cheers!

I agree with Piratecat.

To tell the truth, I was a bit nervous about Hasbro owning it. I think Peter will make sure that it remains a fun event. I was wondering when and how he'd jump back into the industry. Good for him.

Yes, I remember the rumors flying. No doubt the fires were fanned by the impending move to Indianapolis, but perhaps there was a kernal of truth to it after all.

Just think of the heart-rending choice they had to make:

Save money by cutting even more employees, or

Make a pile of dough by selling GenCon.

I think this is excellent news. Three cheers!

I tend to think that this must be a good thing, too.

Lately, it seems that Wizards is only divesting itself of properties that would be better handled or more profitable with other companies, anyway (lay-offs not included in my generalization, of course). Besides, Adkinson owned it before, right?

I also think this is great news. I bet that Adkison will make a ton of money with Gen Con; he's a good businessman. In fact, it would be kind of cool if Adkison made enough money with Gen Con to buy D&D back... ok, that won't happen, but I have great respect for the man after his super job with 3e.

It's because of the GAMA trade show going on. Today was the last day so that should be the end of the "big news" for a while.
