WoG timeline rollback suggestions (OK, is that better?)

'S'OK, Chatdemon-I see how my original post could have rubbed you the wrong way ... maybe if I change the title of this thread, since it seems to be surviving much longer than I'd expected.

Yes, the Kingdom of Keoland site is for Living Greyhawk, and is based to a great extent on the newer history that I'm not thrilled with. The point was, the level of detail on the country is enormous, and even after taking out the things I don't like, including the last 10+ years of history, and adding in the time it takes me to do that-the kingdom is still more detailed than any kingdom in my homebrew world would be after fifty times as much effort on my part. It's so much easier to tear down than to build up! :D

I read through the summary of the Greyhawk Wars era on the WOTC site last night-I'd never seen the whole shebang laid out in one timeline like that. And it's more understandable to me now, although the end result doesn't make any more sense. It reminds me of one of my favorite comedy scenes, Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau trying to bug a phone in The Return of the Pink Panther. Each individual action he makes is fairly reasonable, or at worst showing slightly poor judgement; only moderately clumsy, not ludicrously uncoordinated. And by the time he's done, the phone is bugged alright-and the desk it's on, the chair at the desk, and his phone company uniform disguise have all been destroyed. I still can't explain exactly how-but it just didn't work the way it was supposed to.

(OK, now, if I was really a troll, I'd have responded, "Of course the Kingdom of Keoland website has some coolness-it rubbed off of the ultimate coolness of the original World of Greyhawk! :) )
