Wolfgang Baurs - Next Open Design project

Maybe I'm late to the party, but I've been so distracted, I only just realized... I haven't seen anything regarding WotRK. Did you stop updating via Livejournal entirely?

Actually, tons of updates, encounters, new monsters, and playtest reports. Send me email and we'll figure out if there's an access issue or what.

Would love to get your perspective on skill challenges, in particular.

Man, even as a hardcore 4e player, I think I'd rather see a Modern/Cthulhu adventure from Mr. Bauer. Of course, it looks like you have to be registered on the board to vote anyway, so I won't have to make that choice.

The dreaded ditto post.

Hell, have that poll on RPG.net, En World, and other large sites and see if that reveals any more depth.

My days of registering for sites to vote on something are long gone.

May I repeat the same question Wolfgang asked Dave, that being, why?

This isn't a critical statement on your decision. I respect it. Wouldn't dream of telling you that there's anything wrong with it.

But I don't understand it. Could you explain?

I joined Livejournal for the patron project.

I'm a member of several sites.

I just don't feel the need ot make another user id and another password.

Pretty simple no?

FYI

It seems as if the deciding votes will by by wallet. And if things don't go your way they've stated that refunds will be had.

Just in case someone hadn't noticed.

Very reasonable way to do it, in my opinion. It also jives with the philosophy and method of creation.

That is correct. This poll at the Kobold Quarterly site is just narrowing down some of the choices.

The usual method for project selection is ultimately determined by what project gets funding. If something you don't like gets funded instead, Wolfgang refunds your money.

Patronage is handled through PayPal.

If there were too many choices at the funding stage, it would be really hard on everybody. Too many refunds, too many people being asked to fund a Project when there was a much greater uncertainty if it was going to see the light of day.. and just too many votes scattered between too many choices.

But yeah, people willing to invest their money will be the real determiner. And this point, he's just focusing in on what people want.

Joe, I'm fine with you not registering for yet another site (I know the feeling). My problem is that polling the ENWorld audience or the WotC audience will inevitably skew the results.

I guess the people whose votes I care about most are the ones who have supported previous projects, and I know I can find those people.... On the KQ forums.

Maybe I'm not thinking broadly enough. Ah, hell, now I may try to figure out how to post an ENWorld poll.:hmm:

I supported previous projects, and tried to sign up for the KQ page, but couldn't. It kept running me in circles.

I'm not a KQ subscriber, but I supported Castle Shadowcrag (speaking of which...), Empire of Ghouls, and Arabian Nights. I'd love to see another 3.5 adventure. Or pulp adventure (Modern would be extra cool... though I'd use Spirit of the Century or Spycraft. If you happen to make the Atlantis adventure, I might be able to help with a conversion appendix...)
