Wolfgang Baur's Open Design #3 down to Ghouls vs. City-State

As a new patron, you get the right to buy Shadowcrag. You still have to pay for it, just like those of us who sponsored it did.

Plus, getting it from Lulu is additional on top of that. It is "at cost," Wolfgang makes nothing off your buying it from Lulu.

So, the cost of Shadowcrag is:

1) Cost of patronage for the current (or future) project.
2) Cost of paying for Shadowcrag
3) Cost of Lulu printing and shipping (if desired).

Is the Lulu printing just softcover, or is there a hardcover version available?

I'll pay for Shadowcrag with my next paycheck. ;)

I looked for a hardcover option on Lulu, but all I could find were softcover and spiral-bound. So I went with softcover when I prepped the files.

If someone more familiar with Lulu can point me to a hardcover option, I'd be glad to make it available to the patrons.

I've only recently become a patron, and I admit I don't know the site that well. If I wanted to go ahead and buy a copy of Shadowcrag, what links would I follow/where would I go to do so?

Softcover. In fact...

So what is this about not being able to buy past projects.

You mean if I pay the entry fee, and then want to pay more for the older books, Wolfgang won't sell them to me?

The patron projects are a bit different than a regular product. The patrons that financed the first project decided that they didn't want to sell their adventure, "Steam and Brass" to the public. Since it isn't Wolfgang's book (rather, it's the patron's book), he put a vote up to the group and they voted to keep it limited to the original 1st project patrons.

At least that is how I understand it.

I was under the impression that shadowcrag would be like that too, but I guess I am wrong.

I just got my Lulu softcover of Castle Shadowcrag. Very nice!

I was interesting in learning some design-fu and getting some cool books, not joining a club.

I thought these were just ransom projects.

Just seems like a very complicated, arcane process.

That seems to be part of the draw. Not only do you gain some input into the design process but you also gain some exclusivity. Only those part of the club get the toy. Which I can kind of appreciate since you are paying a premium to be part of the club. Instead of paying ~$30-40 for a hardcover book you are paying $25 dollars for a softcover or pdf that only patrons of that project will receive. Some are paying $60 or more for greater access to Mr. Baur and other priveldges.

I have a question myself. If there are 60 patrons for project A and 70 patrons for project B, with 100 patrons needed for green-light, what happens? You go ahead with project B or wait for 100 patrons for a given project?
