Wonderfalls

And THIS is good? You promise? :)

I'll try it Thursday night (I believe CSI is a rerun). Normally, a tagline like that would make me steer clear of a show, but I guess I'll give it a shot. If Minnear is behind it... *crosses fingers*
I promise it's good. :)

I don't know about the nervous breakdown part but I guess it could be taken that way. It's basically a comedy. The lead is very snarky and the humor is very similar (but different enough to be its own style) to Buffy. I'd be surprised if any Buffy fan hated this show.

I keep hearing about the raves, and have to admit.. the premise, given like that, sounds really, really stupid. But I'll give it a try, just based on the huge amount of praise.

I'd call it "David Lynch's Gilmore Girls."

That's a compliment!

Sounds weird, I'm sure, but that's a description of a really sweet show in my book.

I don't watch a lot of TV so I have no reference for those shows :) I'll take your word for it and try to remember to tape it. (Yeah, Friday night is still pretty much the 'death slot' for any show, but it seems less so now - VCR's and soon TIVO and it's clones make time shifting so easy..)

The show rocks. I was going to start a thread on it if one hadn't already appeared. Smart, funny, occasionally touching. My wife liked it but said that she hoped they tuned down the snark factor on the lead -- I just flat-out loved it, but I'm big on snark.

It reminded me of the Andy Richter show, actually, with some of the delivery and the very fast, funny cuts.

Too many funny bits to mention, but I personally was hooked from the opening "Indian Story", and my wife, who is Southern Cheyenne, was shaking her head and laughing helplessly the whole time as well.

Definitely worth a look -- might not be your cup of tea, but it's at least worth a look. When's the last time that Ain't it Cool News, USA Today, and Entertainment Weekly have agreed on a show being rockin' cool?

Yes. I'm big on snark as well. Snark on! :)

Good call, I should have thought of that. Been so long since it's been on.

Too true.

Favorite lines, anyone? This is a very quotable show. Spoilers ahoy!

"Are you Satan? If you don't say something in 5 seconds, I'm going to assume you're Satan..."

“Did you just say, ‘My ass’?”

“You need to stop kissing the mirror, buddy! Just ‘cause a girl’s not eating your chili … Did you have that goiter before?”

"Sharon and Poor Bitch, sitting in a tree..."

"Actually, the Bic Number-Two is the pen of choice..." -- paraphrasing

Wiping the ink from the sister's cheek.

"Yeah, I know. We drank those. Now I need for more. New guys..."

Sharon and Poor Bitch was my favorite, too. My wife's only complaint about the show, being named Sharon and all, was that all Sharons on television were absolute bitches, and what's up with that? Anyway, we laughed a lot.

Thanks, guys, for the heads-up!

Daniel
