So if there is one thing this thread has shown it is that there are enough ideas that _everyone_ can hate on something.

Me, I hate on worlds where you need to be 10th+ level to make any difference.

You just listed some of the resons i do not like it. i dislike realsitic geography, "layers of intrigue", and a historical feel. I like to play adventure type games. Not political games.

Okay I can see not liking it for these reasons but that does not make it "bland". To me bland means all one flavor. And Kalamar is not allone flavor.

I don't dislike any published setting per say. A DM can make or break any game world.

What I dislike in a game is when you have to have magic items to succed they become more important than the character instead of being just the icing on the cake.


I don't like a game with no hope that no matter waht you do you can not make a difference its just struggle struggle die.

Other than these two things I am pretty easy going when it comes to worlds.
