World of Warcraft, What????

Actually, I really enjoy that part of the game. :)
I like going out, mining or picking flowers and then making items that either I or someone else can use. The fact that your skills level up rather quickly is also part of it too.

In Dark Age of Camelot, I remember that I had to make lots and lots of crap before I could even make ANYTHING remotely good. It seemed as if my skills went up so slowly that it didn't even matter.

I really don't like that part of WOW. I know you can make good stuff early, but I wish you did not need to to keep up.

In WoW, in order to keep up money wise, your character MUST take a couple of secondary professions to make and sell stuff. (Alecemy, mining) If you don't you miss out on cash. Thats the only thing I don't really like about WoW, I don't want to spend my time picking herbs or mining, I want to go out and kill monsters.

They key is to take the skills you'd want to have anyway. I've got a Hunter with good Leatherworking, Skinning, and First Aid. I get leather or cloth from at least half the stuff I kill, so it's not like I'm going out of my way for materials. It takes a little more effort for my Warlock and her Alchemy and Herbalism skills, but I go through potions like they're candy, so it's been worth the effort.

I found when I had mining and smithing that smithing was taking waaay too much time to 'lvl-up' and I wasn't making enough cash on the stuff I was making. So I binned smithing (at 180) and picked up skinning, these are pure money-making skills and you can sell the ore or bars and leather in the AH or to individuals to make wads of cash... with that cash you can buy whatever you want anyway then.
There always seems to be a call for copper and iron ore, and all the kinds of leather. From having 7g max in 2months i went to 88g in a week... so these skills do have their bonus's but you just have to play 'em correctly depending on what you want out of them.
Obviously I want cash :D

I don't think this is true. You can perfectly get along with decent income without any professions at all. Just killing monsters, taking their stuff and running to the AH every now and then is all you really need to do.

Of course, herbalism and mining are nice for the low levels, but there are plenty options to earn gold, not just those.

Also buying some rare recipes from remote vendors and selling them in the AH is a good way to make some quick coins. ;)

Engineering is fun! And I had a blast with tailoring too, but i blew waaay too much money on it.

I petered out at 42 before my subscription ran out. I absolutely HATE trying to find groups, and people just didnt want a 42 night lf warrior, it seems. And soloing is so boring.

Back when I played EQ i had a necro that I got up to 65 (when it was the cap) after 4 years of play, 3 of which were under 30th level. I should look into EQ again, just for old times sake. Sometimes I miss people saying "that Achraziel guy is spooky"

(side note, just cause i thought of it: when the EQ D20 RPG was being made the designers played EQ for a while and it was on my server, and some of the NPCs in the books are former guildmates of mine, haha Go Evoluxa)
