WotC acquisition by MS press release (April fools)

I just previewed the new Kenzer "Kingdoms of Kalamar: A Player's Primer to the Forgotten Realms" for the German DND-Gate(.de). I was wondering why WotC would allow such a world-fusing book.
Now I read about Eberron/FR.

Will the Realms die - or will they assimilate everything?

I heard that they intend to scrap FR, Greyhawk and Eberron completely (using the 'event' adventure as a big blowout), and make a new one called 'MicroWorld'. The reason for this move seems to be that Bill Gates wants to replace Elminster, Mordenkainen et. al. with his own personal PC's as the most powerful NPC's in the official game world.

The name for Tanar'ri will be changed to Mac'ani and the name for Yugoloth will be changed to Linuxoth.

This may not seem like a big deal to others, but I'm a recovering victim of Microsoft purchasing a brilliant company that produced high-quality products and that I was a die-hard fan of, pressuring them to alter their games so that they appealed to the lowest common denominator, determined they were unprofitable, and forgot that they even owned them. This proves Microsoft is systematically trying to purchase and internally destroy every single thing I hold dear in an attempt to crush whatever spirit I have left until I'm a pathetic emo-ey husk of a former self. First Rare and now D&D. All Microsoft needs to do is buy out the college library, the communist party, AIM, jazz music, NPR, Adult Swim, and hentai and they will own, and presumably ruin my life

Would that be Fasa you are talking about?

Nice work, trainz. I thought you were going to pull an "Oh, yeah, I knew it was a joke, I was just playing along." I was not going to believe you, until you cleverly planted the clue in your first post.

Reminds me of this... http://www.theonion.com/onion3121/billgates.html

I wish that MS would buy the franchise. It is about time that DnD lost all of its RP elements. I look forward to a day when we have to buy a quantum PC just to handle all the various mathematical computations involving moving minis ona battle map and how to get the most tactical min/max combo in order to finally win the darn game!

Then we would have to buy a new PC every few months in order to get the expanded calculous and chaos theory rules.

This is just an April Fool's Day joke, right? NO WAY could Microsoft be interested in D&D! It has to be a joke. Today's April 1. And we've never even gotten a sniff of this news before today.

Definitely a joke.

(I've always wanted to be one of those spoilsports who has to state the obvious to ruin a running gag. Even if I'm late to the party. ... It's not nearly as much fun as I'd thought it would be.)
