D&D 4E WotC and 4E Communication Feedback

RSS feed

The best method for me to receive the official or "blogged" info would be through one central RSS feed, so little headlines pop up for me during the day/week making me all giddy. That would be cool!

The blog idea isn't a bad one. Even if it's simply a link to some new tidbit found in a thread, podcast, video, or elsewhere.

They could make it open to all WotC staff to add to the same blog, too.

Mike,

If I could ask for one thing at the moment in regards to 4E, it would be a place clearly marked on the front page of WotC’s D&D homepage that says:

“CLICK HERE TO FIND THE ANSWERS TO YOUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED 4E QUESTIONS” or something along those lines.

I would like to think that I am relatively clued-in in regards to the 4E announcement. I have spent many hours here on EN World, the WotC site, WotC messageboards and other spots on the internet reading about 4E. However there are still so many questions I want to ask and so many things that I don’t know.

I am sure that most of these things I don’t know have been answered in one place or another but there are just so many 4E discussions going on everywhere that it is hard to keep up with it all. If there were one place I could go to find the answer to most of my (relatively basic) questions it would make life a lot easier for me.

I don’t think I would be alone in this situation either. I’m sure there are a lot of people in the same situation as I am. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were also people that tried to find out information but were either overwhelmed by it all or have been misinformed (either accidentally or deliberately).

Having a visible go-to place to find out answers to questions would be most appreciated.

Yeah, sorry I thought I was being clear here. I know that DUNGEON / DRAGON Magazines are going over to 4E. What I was saying was in spite of that I would be willing to pay for the DDI if the virtual desktop portion still supported 3E game play.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The gleemax site had a post about that. I think it was the editorial. I seem to recall that the tabletop was supposed to have a 4e mode and Do-Whatever-You-Want mode.

How is that any different from the people who have said that they have already made their decision TO switch to 4E? Are they just as misguided?

There is no difference to me. There cannot be a good decision either way until you see the rules.

Yes, there should be a link to the FAQ from the main site to the FAQ that is already on the gleemax boards. That would help with some of these questions right away.

Also Mike, currently where is the best place to go to find out more information about 4E and the Digital Initiative/D&D Insider? At the moment I'm not too sure where the best place to look is.

Sorry for not being around too much in the past few days, GenCon has been crazy. I finally made it back to Seattle (and in one piece at that) and I wanted to start a thread about our 4E communication.

If you have any ideas, concerns, complaints, etc about how we're distributing the information about 4E please post and let us know. We're definitely interested in any ideas people have on ways we can improve our communication with the community.

Thanks!

It has been many years since 3.x came out. A major difference is the internet! Where you intend to tantalize us over the next 8 months to build up suspense and excitement, we are drowning in speculation.

If WotC really wanted to communicate they would stop teasing us or give straight facts.

Case example: Gnomes, in or out? People either love them or hate them. These boards and several others are littered with opinions and purported facts. It polarizes people. Then throw in the rumors that Gnomes will be on the DDInsider and people get all fired up about the validity of the "not required" stance. More dissonance... What is the purpose of telling us that one race is being dropped without telling us which one?

The idea is that you can play any RPG on the tabletop (although it may not support the rules, it will allow you to have "miniatures" on the map, and for you to talk to each other, and roll dice).

I don't know how much of The Rules are meant to be implemented... if any at all.

Cheers!

The game table will not adjudicate game rules. This is similar to your existing game table in your living room/kitchen/family room/attic/basement... It is not the table that helps you adjudicate your own game rules, so like your normal games it will be up to the DM to share his or her house rules for his or her players, and enforce them using the voice interaction provided by the VOIP, the text chat window, and the DM's settings.
