D&D 4E WotC Greg: 4E Campaign Report Part 2

The angel fight sounded pretty cool. I liked the whole crit-explosion-OMG thing going on, and it's cool that the fight went faster after being bloodied (though I think, noticing it was going slow, I would've thrown the party some sort of bone before that point).

But then he got all up on his "GOOD STORY HUR HUR" high horse about raise dead, and now I want to tell him to go eat a steaming pile of something vile.

I hate it when the DM runs roughshod over the game and the player's capabilities just so he can gloat about how good of a storyteller he is.

It seems like a lot of rituals will be fine pickings for DMs who don't like it when PC's can tell them what direction to take their precious storyline in.

That makes me more wary than ever about playing (as opposed to running) 4e, especially with a DM I'm not familiar with.

Subjective fiat is FAIL, IMO.

All right, though, rant over. Cool Angel fight, still. :)

I think a player should be the one to determine if their character has an unfulfilled destiny, but I'm one of those weird "shared narrative control" GMs.
