I don’t do transatlantic flights well. It would have ti be one hell of a holiday!Seriously, if you come I hope you escape the drab offices in Bellevue and take a little tour of the region too
(Seriously though, that’s very kind).

I never said they were going to be good at it.Depends on what you consider bribes and manipulation. Does, "Here's a tasty lunch, now look at this cool new product," qualify?
Given how badly they bungled the OGL thing, suggesting they are going to be master manipulators is... not terribly plausible.
So am I and it's only a few drinks and the dinner and buffet special at PonderosaI love his honesty: "I'm willing to be wined and dined."
Screw WOTC and their summit! I say we have our own summit! An Ensummit if you will.
Right, they need the influencers to be more than just placated or even content, they need them to be actively enthusiastic about the new edition. That would be my assumption. 2024 has to pop, and they can't rely on 1D&D to do it for them on its own.
I get the feeling, or at least hope, that this isn't as much bribe/manipulation in the traditional sense as much as... if these content creators have X million constant followers per stream, that is way more effective than research groups for having a finger on the pulse of what's going on.I just hope it doesn't end up being some kind of bribe or manipulation.
A truer statement of the American doctor office, I've not seen recently. If these folks can be bought with a catered lunch, you should probably not be listening to them to begin with.
Given that the last time I ate at the Pondo-pit was late 90s and they did AYCE steak and chicken with the buffet... yes please. So am I and it's only a few drinks and the dinner and buffet special at Ponderosa
You clearly never watch them.. that's not their dealI don't watch them. I actually kind of hate the idea of "influencers". The whole quasi-celebrity, in it for the clicks mentality depresses me.
Well, it's some of their deals. Bob is generally not one of those, though, nor are the folks who were granted interviews last time around. You clearly never watch them.. that's not their deal
I thought that's who we were talking about.Well, it's some of their deals. Bob is generally not one of those, though, nor are the folks who were granted interviews last time around.
I think @Micah Sweet and others don't watch anyone on YouTube and believe them all to be wannabe Kardashians or cable news screaming heads. But yes, you are correct in that Bob isn't that. If he's trying to be anyone, it's the Bob Ross of D&D.I thought that's who we were talking about.
Okay?Everyone realizes that this is WoTc's attempt to butter up the influencers, right?....
I guess Kyle's damage control tour wasn't enough.
“Flipped” is an odd word to use when talking about a community getting what it demanded from wotc annd more… and being okay with that.Propaganda 101.
Considering how the majority of the community flipped the second WotC released 5.1 under CC-BY, it likely won't take much wining and dining to bring many of the "influencers" back into the tent.
Given his subscriber numbers, I was surprised he was on the list for the apology tour. But even he doesn't have a great deal of reach (comparatively) right now, I could see his channel as being the kind that WotC would want to promote. Before the Dark Times, anyway. His tone is always pretty positive, he doesn't court controversy, and he did a deep dive on the Essentials Kit, making videos about each of the quests in Dragon of Icespire Peak, which was essentially free advertising. Also, his channel is very DM-centric, helping people become, and become better, DMs.They are casting a wide net, and, no disrespect intended, I'm surprised Bob made the cut. But, hey, good for him! He'll have a great time!
How is summarizing "they will be reluctant to ever criticize WoTC" as "won't criticize WoTC" a strawman? Whatever fine distinction you're making there is lost on me because that sure does seem like a fair summation of what you said. Not even going to bother addressing that strawman...
I think @Micah Sweet was talking more generally about influencers and not Bob or anyone in particular.I thought that's who we were talking about.
he was essentially throwing all channels into an ‘influencer’ box, without having watched any. It was then pointed out that the one person this thread was actually about does not belong in that box.I think @Micah Sweet was talking more generally about influencers and not Bob or anyone in particular.
