What are your opinions of the Hindu gods being included? They're an existing religion that has been around for thousands of years.

That is true of every RW pantheon, admittedly with more disruptions thanks to acts of religious genocide. But the faithful are growing, in modernized forms. Fastest growing faith group in America and I think Canada.

Maybe 1 movie and tv show was Indy 4 levels of bad (RoS and BoBF)
What about Last Jedi? That movie sucked.

And also Rogue One, which wasn't bad per-se, but felt like it was stuck into the Star Wars universe as an afterthought, having a completely different tone and feel from the original movies. It also introduced chronological inconsistencies; the opening crawl from New Hope said the rebels had already won their first victory against the galactic empire - past tense - not, "hey, here's a skirmish from that first battle still going on". And for some reason they decided to change Tarkin from a machiavellian sociopath to some kind of chaotic evil homicidal maniac who commits mass murders just because he can.

Precisely because it is the 21st century, you can get a lot of incorrect information if you don’t actually read it.
And yet, RL did get rid of the core and SJ did get rid of the phlogiston and crystal spheres. Every time these things come up, people try to use "but you could be wrong" to deflect, despite their not being in fact wrong.

The fact that they thought it was Spelljammer in name only. Which is not the case.
The fact is that they ditched the phlogiston and (EDIT: mostly) crystal spheres. Whether that is enough to make it "Spelljammer in name only" is a matter of opinion, and in my opinion (and the opinion of whoever said it upthread) it is. It's OK if your opinion is different; opinions can be wrong, but they are not automatically wrong just because they are different from yours.

How, exactly, did a thread discussing the need for innovative business management of the D&D brand devolve into an argument over the D&D cosmology for the last 8 pages?
Well, to be fair "D&D needs a sociopathic fascist manbaby" - "no it obviously doesn't" is a fairly short conversation. So it is not surprising the thread drifted a bit.

Playability is necessary
Exactly, and people did play with the classic settings back in the 90s, so any argument based on their being unplayable is self-defeating.
