With the Indiana Jones presentation at Comic Con and the announcement that Karen Allen was returning as Marion Ravenwood, I decided to visit indianajones.com

Well upon looking at the news items I noticed this little tidbit...

"Major Companies in Global Licensing and Promotional Program"

The article goes on to talk about the numerous companies jumping on the promotional bandwagon, and of course they get to Hasbro.

"In the toy category, Hasbro Inc., will develop a broad line of action figures, vehicles and role play as well as games."

Is Wizards putting together an Indy RPG to coincide with the films' release? Has anyone heard anything about this?

"Role Play" in the toy industry means kiddy dressup toys.

No, it means toys that look and act like the same props the Hero uses, so that the kid can pretend to be the Hero. (Or the Villain...)

Blasters, swords, lightsabers... those cool Hulk Smash hands... these are role play items.

By comparison, a GI Joe or Transformers action figure, is NOT a role play toy. (Although there may still be some role identification with the toy.)

It has nothing to do with "kiddy dressup toys" as you so dismissively described it.

Any geek worthy of the title probably has more than one role play toy within arm's reach, right now.
