WotC release schedule thru 2005

The only problem with a "Spell Compendium" is that it becomes outdated the instant the next product with spells is released.

Still, considering how many spells have been released so far, it'll be a good resource.

Bahh.... this means that Champions of Ruin is just a FR version of BoVD, and CoV is the equivalent of BoED. Most likely another book of crunch I'll never buy. I am tired of this kind of stuff.

Ugh, it's people like this that make people like me lose out on the crunch material :\

There are people who like more crunch than fluff, you know. Fluff is easier to do (all it takes is an imagination) than it is to make crunch (that takes employment at WotC R&D team who playtest, balance out, and edit the new feats, PrC, spells, psionics, etc.).

In case no one's noticed, they've been adding more fluff than crunch a lot lately. Races of the Wild and Sandstorm for example. I'm sorely disappointed with Sandstorm. At a loss of more prestige classes, they added in stupid text with the new prestige class format they've used with Lost Empires of Faerun. As vast as the Wastes can be, only 7 seven prestige classes? Bah, I feel like I'm being ripped off, paying for text telling me what I "could do with it" rather than text saying what I "could have in my game".

Down with fluff-lovers! :]

Since Codex Anathema got changed so that bookstores would know what it was, I predict "Magic of Incarnum" will be retitled before release ;)

Good point :)

I also am annoyed by Spell Compendium (particulalrly if it is Spell Compendium I). How many times will WOTC sell the same stuff to us (Builder Books, Complete Books, and then put all the spells in a much more convenient compnedium)? I predict they will do this with feats and prestige classes too :heh:

But they haven't reprinted much yet... well besides the 3.5 revision obviously. Wouldn't this be the 1st case?

I'm not a fluff-lover... I just don't need more PC material because there's already tons of books about that, which I never have enough characters to use it!

I'm afraid this is why it's tome I only! A real FULL compendium could come out only at the end of an edition.

Yes. It's called supply and demand.

Crunch is easy to do. Why do you think so much of it got released right away in the d20 system? Fluff itself isn't necessarily hard, but good fluff is probably the hardest type of game material to write there is. Although it's probably also the most useful in many ways.

In case no one's noticed (and by no one, I mean you) we have enough crunch to last us well into retirement already. People in general are getting tired of crunch. WotC is reacting to market conditions by increasing their fluff content.

Oh, yeah, we really needed more prestige classes, didn't we? Heaven knows, I don't have anywhere near enough prestige classes.

Good luck with that.

Spell Compendium

D&D Spell Compendium: If you they put in Magic of Faerun, all of the Complete XYZ spells, stuff from the environment series (Frostburn etc.), I could see this being pretty useful.

Until the next book comes out!

That means we only get 3½ proper Eberron products this year
You've also left out the Eberron Novels (which I'm enjoying).

I'm a fan of Eberron and I'd buy more sourcebooks if they came out faster, but I don't think they're coming out slowly ... I'm still having a hard time waiting for Races of Eberron though!

Running through the list, there were two books that screamed "you need to own me" at me. Magic of Incarnum and Magic of Eberron.

I'm a hopeless magic addict.
