WotC_Husclar: Goblin Battle!

Magic shops are awesome. I'm pleased as punch that you can go out for a night of wine and wenching (With potential mechanical benefits? That would be the awesome too.) and wake up to go to your friendly neighborhood arcane ritualist for some magicked up armor.

It just feels right.

Anyway, Biggie is indeed a great character. One thing that strikes me, though, is that after fighting dragons and assassins, the party hasn't moved beyond simple goblin bandits. I'm not sure how I feel about that. There's a certain sense of accomplishment in a monster becoming obsolete because your PC is just too bad for it to be a threat anymore.

I just hope that's the DM choosing from a combat option any largish creature can use, and not some kind of special built-in bugbear power...otherwise, you have to wonder why ogres, trolls, or giants don't "kick you while you're down". Do bugbears have special magic feet? What?
Well, we don't know how many creature special abilities will be "extracted" from monster descriptions and be described as powers. I think there are some 3e examples where reused abilities where not described in the index. I think I have seen "Augmented Criticals" with the Tarrasque first, but later MMs gave this abiltiy to other monsters...

I think there is little hindering you from slapping this power on your custom-made giant, or replacing the ability of a monster manual monster with the Bugbears one.

But it's probably a power built in into the monster to make the combat against it feel unique. Which I think is pretty cool awesome. :)
