WotC_Rodney on Ari M. and Al Qadim

Oh Al'Qadim and Dark Sun are completely unrelated. I quite love them both (though my actual gaming experience in Dark Sun is limited) but they have a very distinct feel. Interesting Al'Qadim can be very PoL. Also unlike the other orbit FR settings (Kara-Tur, Maztica) it is self-contained.

Wow. Al-Qadim was an amazingly fun setting to play in. I remember stealing from it for a few months before being unable to resist and then I arranged for the PCs to make a trip there.

If Al-Qadim comes back, I for one will be extremely pleased. It had wonderful flavor, exciting feel, and stirred the imagination. <fingers crossed>

I doubt that Al-Qadim will be back. Just because one guy plays it in his own round, doesn't mean that 4th edition will necessarily have plans for it.
We do know that the Forgotten Realms and Eberron will be supported. All those other campaign settings? Probably not so, or if at all, heavily re-imagined.

Glancing through the wikipedia entry for Al'Qadim and a fan site or two, I can see that. I think when they were both out, I just thought "I already have a desert based campaign, and it's way deadlier" without any further inspection. I don't regret all of the time I spent on Dark Sun, but clearly there is more to Al'Qadim than I had originally believed.

Thaumaturge.

God, this is FourthBear. If you're listening, let there be more Al Qadim content coming. Those who do not see that it was the best damn setting ever made for D&D shall be cast into confusion and the righteous shall rejoice.

Appending to FourthBear's prayer:

Also let Oriental Adventures come back, and be generic and not related to Rokugan, Kara Tur, or any established setting. I like Rokugan and all, but not as a default, and I know next to nothing about Kara Tur.

Hmm, here is an interesting question. Pretty much ALL of the D&D multiverses seem to have some villain stolen away to Ravenloft. Was there ever one from Al Qadim?

Yeah, that's very true. It's nice to feel be hopeful, though, if only to enjoy the moment. ;)

Dark Sun, Al-Qadim, and Planescape are my favorite settings of all time.

Not that I know of, but there was an Indian inspired domain – Sri Raji.

There was a great Dragon article (2nd Ed) about Dark Arabia – Scimitars in the Dark (written by Wolfgang Baur, and one of my favourite articles in Dragon, ever).

Sri Raji sounds familiar, but I have not heard of that article. I seem to recall liking Wolfgang Baur's work, do you know if that article/issue is available (for free or purchase) via the internet?
