Would the real Peerless Archer please stand up?

I don't think that a Cleric/Archer outshines a straight archer any more than a melee Cleric outshines a straight tank, but it is a great combo. Our Cleric took Zen Archery last level, and I gave her such a look. Then she told me what her 3 attacks were at, adding in her BAB, considerable WIS, and a +6 Periapt of wisdom. I apologized.

Combine that with feats like Reach Spell, and even a weaker combatant can hold his own in a fight, stay out of imediate danger, and still fulfill a Clerics support roll.

The character is in the RTToEE and the game has degenerated into just a number crunching Dungeon crawl which while sometimes not the most fun getting to munch out is a blast and the same group plays another campaign that is far from munched out and is character driven. So we get are Roll playing and our Role playing in every week.

My group is very much into powergaming, and I wasn't accusing you of anything. It's just nice to see someone share a combo that's been used in a game. It just rubs me the wrong way when people give advice that clearly hasn't been tested in play.

Like one dude who said that Point Blank Shot isn't a good feat because then you'd have to get close to the enemy. Total BS. Anyone with any experience with archers (or D&D for that matter) could tell you that 90% of combats occur at ranges < 50 ft anyway, where moving into PBS range isn't an issue.

Ok, you see what I mean? I'm getting worked up .., better stop while I can :D

By Ftr4/Clr11 I'd have a +5 bow and +5 arrows with a bead of karma.

Well, you could have a +5 bow and arrow by level 4/11 but it won't be through the casting of GMW by your PC. Perhaps through a friendly wizard?

I don't want to be a spoilsport, but you need to be a 15th level cleric for GMW to grant a +5 bonus, so you'd get it by level 19 (4/15).

Bead of Karma adds 4 caster levels for a few minutes. So I'd be 15th when casting it.

Bead of karma: Wearer can cast his spells at +4 caster level (with respect to range, duration, etc.). Effect lasts 10 minutes.

A clr20 may be a great archer at level 20 with all his day long buffs, etc. But a Clr8 isn't as good as a ftr8, etc.

I think if you're looking for being effective your whole "life" from 1-20 you're looking at a ftr/ something. Depending on if you like the hail of arrows up close, or the deepwoods sniper type. Personally I prefer the OotBI because it seems to fit my ideal archer type better. That's a RP thing. For the one character I had he was deeply motivated by Herionious and wanted cleric levels.

If I was an NPC and I wanted to kill PC's I'g go with Deepwoods sniper and hope for a 18-20 for a massive crit to kill one.

If you're looking for power, make sure to include a level of Ranger so you can use a wand of hunter's mercy. It is a 1st level Ranger spell from Magic of Faerun that causes your next attack with a bow (if made before the end of the next round) to automatically hit and threaten a critical. Combine this with 7 levels of Deepwood Sniper for a x5 critical and you are doing a base of 5d8 damage with your longbow. You would, of course, use haste to make the most of this combination.

Numion. No offense taken just wanted to x'plain myself. As far as PBS feat goes it rocks if you plan to do any missile stuff. Maybe the first round you are outside that range but once the throw down starts it is easy to close and be effective with this feat.

Krafen I hadn't thought of hat spell. I will have to go back and research/look it up.

One nice thing about my Bowman being a Rogue. I have maxed out Use magic deive and an item that gives me +10 to the skill. Makes using all the spells and such of other classes very possible.

Actually once you get fairly high level as a rogue it makes you a back up for every character class. you can heal, blast or buff as needed.

Also an idea to keep in mind.
