I'm rather surprised more people aren't willing to try things totally new.

So far, the only "selling point" is that the thing has none of the core races. That's not a whole lot to go on. What we're being told, essentially, is that we'd not know what to expect at all.

For many people, spare time is at a bit of a premium these days. Gaming competes with jobs, kids, and every other leisure activity. It isn't unreasonable, then, for them to be a bit picky about it.

Is that a BAD thing? I love that sense of the unknown, exploring new areas with new races with new monsters. That'd kick ass.

I like Humans. I see the rest of the "fantasy archtype" races as filling in what could be just different humans, but without the real-world baggage that having different 'races' of humans would entail.

In other words, it's easier on my conscience to have Elves dislike Dwarves than it would be to have Asian-looking Humans dislike Black-looking Humans.

Ooo, one other thing: I absolutely H A T E races that are "human with animal-head". It's the one thing that I H A T E about Arcana Unearthed. The other non-human races in AU are very cool, but for some reason I really don't like the "animal-head" people.

This rules out most "furries" for me, too.

I am currently playing in a game that uses anthromorphic animal races, with no humans or other demihuman races anywhere in sight. It's actually preety good.

I play a gay weasel bard.

Is it a Redwall game?

Nope. If it were Redwall, my weasel would have to be evil, and he's the furthest from that. :) And as far as I know, there's never been a character from the novels who are of ANY sexual preference, much less gay. ;)

It's more of a generic world, not to sure I've not played in it long enough to know much about it. :P

Yes but if all we do all day is talk about how to take over the human empire and don't do it, it will be rather dull. :p :)

(Btw I insist on Ratmen, Asaatthi, Sutak and High Gorgons as my options! Barring that any evil outsider.)
