Would you be willing to play in a campaign setting with none of the core races?

Could you?

Arcana Unearthed gave me a hard time in this regard. Litorians with dreadlocks and Sybeccai with Cleopatra hairstyle, please! And females of both races with typical human boobs - arrgh !

Well, the Sibbecai were created as a sentient race from creatures, by the giants. So in effect the Giants re-created them in something similar to their image. They look like the typical "pseduo-human" because they were magically transformed that way. And the origin of the Litorians are not touched upon, but could be the same, the setting does hint that Giants may have been a big part of the land in times long ago.

As for the 'lameness' of a Litorian with dreadlocks, I'd argue that the difference resides with the player. As has been said, people often play anything as a human with cosmetic differences only, heck, even if they're non-animal, like a living golem, etc. The player in my game playing a Litorian has done an excellent job in fleshing out his 'furry' character. Heck, looking back at it, he plays it almost like a more conversive wookie than a human. Not quite as driven by his stomach, but definitely a well thought and felshed-out non-human.

I'm all for settings with unusual races, or none at all (save humans) for that matter. Heck, I'm one the four people on earth who consider Savage Species one of the best releases of 2003. I can't wait to run my Wormy campaign. :)

I think half the hype about the Conan RPG is that it's finally a cool setting with that's all humans. A rare thing!

My GM's current campaign is by-the-book races, but he runs lots of stuff. A good, alternative-races world can be quite fine. I've played in and enjoyed Talislanta, GURPS Mythic Greece, Dark Sun.

Skull & Bones only allows humans since it is supposed to be in a mythical past of the Caribbean. Our own world but with a bit of voodoo magic thrown into the mix.

Personally, I think being a furry is better than being an erotic fanfic writer who puts themselves in the fiction. And even then, there's still ONE group under us. :D

The chart predicted you would say that... note that, at the bottom, some arrows point in *both* directions.

Furries get it coming and going. They're the Texas speedbumps of the Info Superhighway.

Wow, this has gone farther then I thought it would. I had originally made this poll to see how a setting I was planning would be recieved and then realised it could be more general.

The idea of the post was to see how people would like to play with fresh Core races, that is not monster varients in the MM, or others. So whilst I am not refering directly to furries (so far as they are the only aces you can play) they would count as fresh races.

I might post a new poll "Are human essential".
