D&D 4E Would you buy and play a new campaign setting for 4e?

I would only buy a new 4e campaign setting

  • If WOTC released it themselves.

    Votes: 23 9.9%
  • If PAIZO released it, with the same level of quality as WOTC.

    Votes: 9 3.9%
  • If a 3rd party with the same level of quality as Paizo released it.

    Votes: 15 6.5%
  • If an established 3rd party released it, to their own standards.

    Votes: 6 2.6%
  • I am not interested in a new campaign setting, I have enough already.

    Votes: 47 20.3%
  • I might be interested, but it would have to be something really cool, different or inspiring.

I'd be shocked in Paizo's quality dropped to WotC's standards :p

Perhaps a 4e setting based on stuff in Paizo's pathfinder. Or Rich Burlew's mystery setting. Or...

If it was good, I'd pick it up... might even run it.

My current three campaigns I run are:

Ptolus/Greyhawk/Planescape

Freeport

Oathbound Wildwood

So Malhavoc/TSRWotC/TSR, Green Ronin, and Bastion Press.

My latest RPG purchases (last night) included Talislanta d20 and Atlantis the Second Age (both by Morrigan Press).

I'm open to new campaign settings.

The poll should have been multiple choice...

I would totally buy a new setting published by WotC, or Paizo, or another 3rd party publisher if it looked good (or maybe even if it didn't look quite so pretty( and had some interesting stuff in it.

I would probably not run that setting... Or, rather, I would probably not run the setting whole cloth, but snatch interesting bit from it to slide into whatever homebrew monstrosity I am currnetly running in at the time... Much like I do with setting material for 3rd edition stuff...

Id buy Dark Sun in a heartbeat. Id also be interested in an updated Iron Kingdoms with less obtuse rules (reference 3 tables just to cast cure? no thanks) and monsters with more interesting mechanics (flavor was great, mechanics were often rather bland).

If i were to invest in a new campaign world, it would have to be pretty non-standard to get my attention.

What I do not like about WoTC settings is that they are required to be "kitchen sink" settings where absolutely everything released by WoTC has a place. A unique setting is created not only by what is added, but by what is taken away.

Michelangelo's David was made by subtracting all the stone that didnt belong, not adding more.

I would definitely buy one of the following revised campaign settings:

1) Arcanis (PCI)
2) Dark Sun
3) Blackmoor
4) Mystara

Oh yeah, also:

5) Forgotten Realms
6) Eberron

The poll is setup as the standard you want held more so than the option you would choose. If you pick Piazo campaign setting, it is assumed you would also look at WOTC stuff.

Where's the option for "I'm a sucker for campaign settings and would probably buy from all sources above." That's where I fit in. I love books, I love maps, I have many campaign settings I've never used just to enjoy them.

I don't care for Eberron's production values. Lots of glossy paper, cartoons, and no proofreading are not what I want. I'll go with Wilderlands of High Fantasy boxed set from Necromancer.
