D&D 4E Would you buy and play a new campaign setting for 4e?

I would only buy a new 4e campaign setting

  • If PAIZO released it, with the same level of quality as WOTC.

  • If a 3rd party with the same level of quality as Paizo released it.

  • If an established 3rd party released it, to their own standards.

  • I am not interested in a new campaign setting, I have enough already.

  • I might be interested, but it would have to be something really cool, different or inspiring.

I don't care for Eberron's production values. Lots of glossy paper, cartoons, and no proofreading are not what I want. I'll go with Wilderlands of High Fantasy boxed set from Necromancer.

So you want lots of dull paper, little illustrations and no proofreading?

I love seeing new campaign settings, but I pretty much only run homebrewed stuff. I might buy somebody else's setting, but only if it included some mechanics I wanted to steal.

I need to be allowed to select multiple of those options.

If WoTC created it - and it was good: Then Yes.
If Pazio created it - at their usual excellent standard. Then Yes.

I want to chose both of these options. :)

Iron Kingdoms from Privateer Press and Midnight from FFG were the best settings for 3.X and amazingly better than anything WotC put out.

I will look at any setting that comes out for 4e, but I suspect the most interesting work will come from the 3rd party publishers. They can afford to be more daring and less "family friendly" than Hasbro.

I think WotC should do another contest for 4e for a new campaign setting. I love Eberron's noir/pulp fusion, I'm hoping to get into a 4e Eberron campaign. Do I need another setting? Not really, but I'd be willing to give one a look.

Naturally, it depends on the setting. Eberron does nothing for me so just churning out another setting like that wouldn't earn my dollars.

The company doesn't matter, the results do. A PoL campaign setting that is well designed with some interesting non-Eberron or FR (or even Dark Sun really) ideas might be enough to grab my attention. But it'd have to be special to drag me away from more interesting home brews.

WOTC is said to hold the rights to the 2nd and 3rd places after the winner - Eberron. Who know if there won't be one of them published..

Seems unlikely given how much time has passed. But you never know...
