Would you game through a nuclear war?

Suppose Friday night a former Soviet republic decided to nuke a neighboring country, say India. India retaliates, the Pakistanis jump in, and all hell breaks loose on the subcontinent. Nukes are flying, although nobody's pointing them here...yet.

Would you still meet up on Saturday?

Well, I game with my friends. And in such an event I can see getting together with friends while we duck and cover. So, gaming could pass the time away I guess.

where...how did the question come to you Wil??

If there were only an hour before nuclear annihilation, I would choose to be intimate with my wife one final time.

I suppose I could game the remaining 55 minutes.

I'd want to be with my friends, anyway.

Not to get too touchy with things here, but I'm fairly certain I was gaming within less than week after the 9/11 attacks.

Of course, it really depends on how long it takes for things to get here, and what can really be done about it all, but, assuming nothing drastic happens right away, and there's little to be done about things, yeah, I'd likely end up gaming.

You've summed up my opinion better than I could have. No immediate devastation nearby, no loved ones in danger, and nothing I can do to stop it - let the dice fall my friends!

And for the record, my group gamed the night of 9/11/01.

Yes I would. And there'd be some kind of reference to current events in the game. I often include a parallel to contemporary real world events/disasters in my game. Nothing makes a better story than the real life...

Of course, in this particular case there would be a very very dark part in the campaign, probably at least one PC would die because of it... (In regular campaigning no PC has permanenty died in my campaign since 1997)
