I agree with a $12-15 annual subscription especially if it means I can get even get on the boards ot read and occasionally post. Skip the stupid Avatars, they only slow down load time which is waaayyy too slow to begin with. I like the search function, but only for subscribers. Many of us "I would pay" folks may have a change of heart when it comes to actually forking out the dough. More bonus features, the more subscribers. Again, NO AVATARS!

I think the days of free internet content are gone forever. I will gladly pay to support any site that is useful/enjoyable to me. I've paid to support other sites in the past, so yes, I would gladly pay a yearly subscription fee. It makes perfect sense to me.:)

Since we have such fantastic and professional talent frequenting these boards, why not hold some kind of raffle to win a free copy of an adventure/miniature/painting/computer game, complete with autograph?

I would gladly pay/year (donated last time) and donate product and I am sure we can get more publishers to do that as well. We gave away some Interludes last time but I am sure we could have some cool raffle items with every yearly subscription purchased. Buzz me if ya need Mo!

Way Yes!!

I have hardly bought anything other than the Core Rules, 'cause I always say to myself "I'm never actually gonna use this."

But I use this site every day! Anyone who actually bought Sword & Fist or any of those other splat books has no excuse to not donate. There are more ideas and "content" on these boards than in any three books.

So in short; Hell Yes I will donate. Show me the way!

I would also be more than willing to work out a subscription system. I love NPR, but I hate their pledge drives. Just sending a check once a year is much more civilized.

I wouldn't pay for those features. Every major message board I visit just about has those features and no one pays except advertisers. I've always thought these boards were less than adequate for the number of users.

I'd pay, but not because of the features. I'd pay just because I love this place. And I'd pay more if the user limit could be dropped... I don't post a lot, but I've been a constant lurker since before 3rd Ed came out and the boards were Eric's, and when I come here and get that "server busy" message, it's like going to a friend's house and finding out they're not home. :(

I have the same idea as java. I would love to pay for the site, but I would like to have more people be able to be on the message boards over those other features you mentioned. I would definately contribute to such an endeavor. That is just my 2 cents.

So does Paypal etc work outside of America?

I don't have a Credit Card (and am a semi-luddite who refuses to get one), might send cheques if the features were interesting to me (they aren't btw) but would donate something...

Paypal works fine outside America. I've used it quite a few times. You do need a credit card, though; it's basically a middleman.

To those people who are saying they'd be happy to donate to the cause: you already can. There's a Paypal button on the main page, where you can shell out to keep EN World up and running.

I would be willing to pay an annual fee as long as it wasn't more than $15. If we got extra features because of that payment/donation, that would be OK, but they wouldn't really be the reason I was donating.

Here we go again with people saying they'd gladly pay for something... How many really would? Maybe half the ones who say they will (to be optimistic). IMO, the site is so successful because it is FREE. Most people will not accept suddenly having to pay for something they were already getting for free for so many years. You will not see many newcomers to the site, the flow of new ideas and sharing of information will thus be inhibited as the number of members declines, etc. Most people will just switch over to posting on WoTC's boards, RPG.net forums, or other free boards. No one wants to pay for anything online, and that is an accepted fact. Look at the failure of online magazines like Slate, or what happened to Heat.net when they tried to force everyone to pay for Sega.net (everyone switched to Gamespy.com rather than pay even $1 to play games online).
