Wreck ashore (El Jefe judging) (Finished)

Hulgyr and Roddick's excitement ignite the same in Wilhelm as if were dry tinder to the spark of their enthusiasm. He puts down his pack, takes out his hooded lantern and lights it with flint and steel. Without its light, he would be stumbling around the darkness, after all.

Very well, Rodac. Leave tomorrow. You are paid for your services after all, are you not? And you would be safer on your way back to Seawell.

He turns to his companions, spear in one hand and lantern in the other. I am ready

You agree and ready to visit the lighthouse right now, so after lighting a fire for Rodac and a lantern for Wilhem, you take your weapons and start your way: it shouldn´t take more than half an hour for an unarmored person to arrive there following a straight path, but for you it´ll take at least an hour. You don´t go far, however. Hulgyr is the first to spot some movement in the undergrowth, and only has time to shout a warning before the stone tip on a javelin sinks on the fallen tree you got the firewood from, just ahead of you. Rodac stumbles backwards and falls on his butt.

Forty feet away, the lizardman that threw the javelin stands behind the bushes and hisses –or maybe growls- two broken words in common: “Go… Away!”

[edit: ooc: the lizardman´s position is only 40 feet away, as said, but it´s rather defensible. You have the tree between you and him, and the heavy undergrowth makes a charge impossible.

Edit: map uploaded, to make things easier for you.]

Wilhelm is startled at the javelin's appearance and readies himself for a fight. He kneels to the ground (+2 AC vs. ranged, -2 AC vs. melee) and sets his lantern down. He drops his spear and takes out his crossbow (he'll reload next round).

Hulgyr readies his Greatsword to return the favour.
He advances towards the lizard asking: "Why do you attack us lizard? If you whish to talk you better hold your weapons at your side. If you whish to die, i suggest you throw another one of those spears, cause you won't throw another again by the time it leaves our hand!".

ooc: take a double move action towards the lizardman. As a part of moving he draws his sword. He moves all the way up to the lizardman if possible.

-edit-
Initiative? I rolled it anyway: 19

Eroin furrows her brow, and charges (figuratively speaking) to the tree, crouching just behind it, and prepares to attack the lizardman on her next turn.

You all close on the lizardman drawing your weapons, except Wilhem, who kneels and prepares to shoot; Eroin remains behind, partly concealed by the tree´s roots. The scaly man reacts nervously when he sees Wilhem´s crossbow; growls again and wield his second (and last) crude stone and wood javelin, aiming with it at you while retreating through the vegetation. “You leave!” he repeats, menacingly. “No more softskins!”

[ooc: I NPCed Timothy´s character, as he asked.

Initiatives:

Wilhem: 20
Hulgyr: 19
Eroin: 15
Lizardman: 15
Roddick: 14

Wilhem can see and shoot the lizardman, but it has concealment from the bushes (30% miss chance) and the darkness (20%)]

Hulgyr shouts to the party :" lets hear the lizard out!"
He moves to the square east of the lizard and asks again: "If you whish to talk, speak, if you whish to die, fight. The choice is yours. I am willing to talk. The fact that my sword isn't in your skull yet proves this, so state your business either it be to talk or die.".

Wilhelm grimaces at the difficult shot. Roddick was blocking the way and melee was imminent, not to mention the darkness and the foilage that made his aim nigh impossible.

He'll load his crossbow but he won't shoot. Delaying action until after the lizard.

“You stop!” shouts the lizard at Hulgyr, while threatening him with the javelin. “You down the metal!”.

You realize the lizardman isn´t an idiot: he simply doesn´t speak much common.

“No more of you here! No more metal!” continues, enraged.

[ooc: it´s technically Eroin´s turn now, but remember that you can speak out of your turn. B4cchus, confirm if Hulgyr continues advanced towards the lizardman or not, he seems ready to attack you if you do.]
