Writers & Artists Needed!

Writers and artists are needed for articles for the upcoming EN5IDER and TRAILSEEKER publications, a pair of online roleplaying game magazines. All work is paid freelance work. If you can write a 2,000 word article or a 5,000 word short adventure, check out the submissions page and contact one of the editors. If you're an artist, the art director is also waiting to hear from you! Each 'magazine' will initially produce one article per week, including one adventure per month and one system-neutral article per month.

The publications themselves won't be launching for a while. The initial focus will be on commissioning an advance stock of high quality completed articles. Click here for the submissions page!

I submitted an application for adventure cartography only for both magazines, while I may also submit for article or adventure writing as well (I'm still considering it), cartography is my specialty and my primary interest for sure.

Edit: I got a response right away and I'm on the cartographer's list (first one)!

Will definitely be submitting, though I have no idea if I'm up to snuff. Really excited about this project in general, even from a customer standpoint.

So, would we be notified if a proposal was not accepted?

It would be nice not to be stuck in limbo instead of pursuing other options for publication of the proposed piece.

I'm a beginner and I would like to write 5e adventures (but I am by no means at the level that I could submit to any magazine). Is there a forum/ a thread/ a community/ where beginner adventure writers criticize each others work and give constructive feedback?

Something like Nanowrimo, but for adventure writers?
Like Monte Cooks NaNewGaMo?

As it happens, this year's IRON DM Tournament needs one alternate contestant, as we speak. This format isn't really for unexperienced DMs, but you are guaranteed at least one critical judgement (more if you make it past the first round) and you're certain to learn something--both from the experience, and from the critique.

You can also learn from the previous entries and their judgements, even without competing. And if you really want to do some research, there are plenty of past tournaments to explore, as well.

If you do want to compete, sign up in this thread before anyone else does.

This is awesome, I think I could enter an adventure that would be good enough to get through (maybe) one round, but I have very-very limited time. Usually only a few hours a week.
But reading through the archives is fascinating, thank you for pointing me into the right direction.

My primary concern at this point would be pay. I'm one of a team of 3; myself (creative writer/visual artist) and 2 others (more structured, technical writers with a head for putting adventures together). Now I understand that there's an exclusivity clause in there, implicitly accepted if you submit, but with that must come some decent degree of compensation. "Paid freelance work" doesn't shed much light and the fact that there won't be royalties on the back end is a bit of a red flag in my opinion.
So, on acceptance, in exchange for taking and gaining one year's worth of worldwide exclusivity, exactly what will our one-time payment be?
