Wuxia in D&D?

It's a bit complicated, but pick up BESM d20. Changes d20 to be more point-based, but it adds a ton of powers and classes based around anime, which allows you to build a wuxia system easily.

Sniffles, if you want to, send your email address to me at dungeonmastercal at yahoo dot com and I'll send my copy of Dragon Fist to you when I get home tonight.

Thanks, Cal. I might take you up on that. I'll have to check with my SO, though. He might already have a copy. He's a PDF-downloading freak. ;)

Another Idea I've herad bandied around for wuxia campaigns is to use gestalt. Everybody is X/monk.

This helps with the "untouchable" feel because everybody get's good saves, good AC (through wis modifiers and AC Bonus), but encourages diversity through the gestalt.

For Wuxia, I would be tempted to go with Spycraft 2.0 with the Wire Fu, Fast Feats, Historical, Common Spectacle and Fast Attributes campaign qualities. I might have to try that sometime, in fact.

what i did in my oriental adventures game was get rid of maximum ranks in jump balance and tumble, give everyone improved unarmed combat and up the damage of an unarmed attack by one dice size to d4 subdual, only monks weither gestalted or not did real damage. i also just threw in a feat that let you fly if you had 15 ranks in jump and tripled your jumping distance and height if you didn't. i was the only wuxia fan so nobody used the stuff. i also used the kata's mentioned in a lot of the L5R d20 books to simulate things like "GOLDEN LOTUS STANCE!" and so on. i then made up a huge number of prestige classies nobody took for various organisations and schools. i might still have the stuff somewhere if you go through the dragonfist material and find it wanting. god i love the stunt dice and the example where the wizard kills a bunch of guys with one spell by making it poke through their ranks. i'm not on the boards much anymore due to hellish work schedules but i wouldn't mind typing it out anyway. ashthompson3@hotmail.com for anyone who is interested. as long as you don't use the words webcam or enlarge in your subject, i'll find it in my junkmail folder :D

And speaking of Feng Shui...

There's a free PDF on the Atlas Games site that goes over the special D20 rules used in the Burning Shaolin adventure, including rules for Faceless Hordes and wildassed stunts.
