Best wuxia RPG?

Yes, I mentioned it in a previous post but I agree it’s a bit hard to find - I have a copy from when it was freely available on the WotC site. There’s also its retroclone (Flying Swordsmen) which I think someone else mentioned earlier.
Overlooked that. Didn't know about Flying Swordsman. Thanks!

Yeah, here it is:

And progress on 2E:

Hey, while I could argue that Bridge of Birds (which is awesome, I’m looking at my copy on my bookshelf right now) is more like shenmo rather than wuxia, […]

(Shenmo or “gods and demons fiction” is Chinese fantasy that’s more concerned with the supernatural doings of, well, mythological gods and demons

Today I Learned!

And interestingly Bridge of Birds does feature gods-and-demons but what makes it so compellingly readable is the human interactions and emotion. I legit tear up during that scene every time.

Have we left out any big systems that CAN’T do wuxia? LOL!

This is such a good book. At the start of it you get one view of the way the world works. That is really changed by the end of it. And yes, I tear up at the scene you're talking about every time.

I think my dream wuxia game is a version of Honor + Intrigue. For me, it's got just the right mix of tactical options and fast flow. I think swashbuckling is the nearest genre to wuxia in a lot of ways, too. Ideally the game would be written by Bedrockgames (if you're not too busy! :p)

A lot of those 60s Shaw Brothers had a swashbuckling feel to them.

Appreciate the sentiment. Unfortunately I am working on a few different projects and I am probably not familiar enough the Honor + Intrigue mechanics to write good wuxia for them (I need to play a system a lot to design for it)

I actually built a version of Honor & Intrigue called Jedi & Starships, which worked much like it sounds and wasn’t half bad in practice; I ran a short High Republic campaign with it. There was some good tactical play in there.

Ah well! Wanting to play a system a lot before designing for it is a really good attitude, by the way. I'm sure it's part of why your stuff stands out so much.

That sounds really cool. Did you use Blasters + Intrigue as the base or was this before its release?
