WWE KNOW YOUR ROLE Demo

I believe the lead designer is Tony Lee. The only other designer I've met is Marcelo Cooper, who ran the demos at GenCon. I believe there are others, judging from the traffic on the playtest mailing list, but I can't say for certain who they are.

I don't have much info on either. Just what I've picked up in passing. I believe Tony worked on Extreme Vengance, the action movie rpg. I seem to remember Marcelo saying he had something to do with the original WWF rpg, but not much control "don't-blame-me" sort of thing (my words, not his).

Myself (Tony Lee), Cynthia Celeste Miller (of Cartoon Action Hour fame and noted wrestling historian), Eddie Webb (Omlevex), Matt Gwinn (Kayfabe), Erik Yaple (d20 7th Sea/Swashbuckling Adventures), and Marcelo Figueroa (who likes to use Cooper or Beat for psuedo-surname for some reason :) ).

Edit: Besides Extreme Vengeance, I had been involved with Sovereign Stone RPG, Games Unplugged and Game Elite magazines, freelanced for games like Deadlands, and created the 2003 Origins Vanguard Award winner Warchon playmark book game. I was tabbed to revise the original WWF game before that got shelved. Marcelo organized a huge local campaign for it.

Howdy.

So, what can we expect from the Know Your Role! RPG, beside you are basing the ruleset from WotC's SRDs? How will the game measure success (e.g., XP award)? What's the setting going to be like?

And will there be a Living Wrestlemania campaign?

But please, no XFL. ;)

Just about anything you see in a WWE show you'll be able to do in the game. Backstage interviews, run-ins, and (of course) plenty of wrestling action.

Success and experience will be very familiar. XP is awarded for matches and some other things you do during a show. Levelling looks like you'd expect it to (feats, skills, etc.). You'll also see a rise in your reputation, which can affect how wrestlers and other personalities react to you.

The official book setting is the WWE as you see it today. There are plans to put out some info on some of the past stars, like Hogan and Andre. But if you don't mind making some characters, which is a snap, you could make your own roster for your own promotion. I'm planning on using a mix of current stars and some originals my players and I make up. I know one of the other playtesters is hoping to have an ECW netbook done shortly after the game releases.

I haven't heard anything about a living campaign for it, but I'd be up for it. Maybe have a big tournament at GenCon and send the winner home with a belt. :D

I don't think there's any (thankfully) mention of the XFL. Of course, it wouldn't be any trouble to introduce a character that is a former XFL player who's come to the WWE to cause trouble for Mr. Mac. :]

So if I play a ringside manager, will I get XP for aiding my wrestler by cheating (distract the ref, whack the opponent with my tennis racket, etc.)?

Yep. And you not only get to distract the ref, but you can try to get your client better stipulations in a match, talk the ref out of disqualifying him, or even hop in the ring and get a shot in yourself. A manager would be getting xp for all that (even though option C almost guarantees him getting his butt kicked).

Heh, tennis racket. Sometimes I forget how much I miss Jim Cornette.

Intriguing. What else can I do? Get bonus XP for getting the crowd into it (boos or cheers)? Can a PC or manager affect the event card lineup all the way to the main event?

Will there be some instructions on running a Survivor Series campaign?
