X-Rated D&D

I was wondering if anyone bought the Book of Erotic Fantasy?

I browsed through it in the shop but the pics nearly seared my eyeballs out. What a bunch of NON-erotic, topless amateurs!

I think it would have served the publishers much better if they actually had "erotic" illustrations instead of photographs. It needn't be hardcore or anything. Maybe something along the lines of the nymph in the Monster Manual.

Anyway, with my eyeballs seared out (and the guy in a raincoat queing behind me) I didn't really look at the quality of the material within.

Has anyone used it? (Keep it clean, please.)

Never used it myself, though there was quite a rage about it late last year upon its release.

I don't have it/haven't seen it, but am very curious about it. I don't know if there's much in there that I'd actually use, but I wish I could find a copy to look over.

I'm tempted to order it and just take my chances, actually. ;)

I glanced through a copy at a friends house; not much there I might use, though I found the 'each races take on sex' kinda interesting. Generally, I've already decided that about most of the races in the common campaigns I do, but it was interesting to see another take on it.

Well, clearly a lot of people must own it, as it's been at the top of FRPgames seller list since it came out (or at least, it's on it every time I visit).

I have looked through a copy, and yes, I would tend to agree about the art. While it is somewhat ego boosting that all the women I've seen naked in real life look better (and less disease ridden) than the models in the book, I really have to wonder - was that the best they could do? Yeesh.

I was thinking about getting the book simply because it has an appearance stat in it, and I want to come up with an alternative to BRP (the rules system for the original Call of Cthulhu) based on the SRD and various open content books), but I was very much turned off by the art. Should have used drawings, or at least people who have taken a shower recently.

Most of the text seemed a bit juvenile, too.

I think that skanky, diseased look was intentional--they were trying to look sewperkewl and "dark", cuz it was SEX--oooooh! EVIL! DARK! SCARY!

There was really only one pic that made me go, 'Ew'. That was the pleasure golem pic.

If I had the book I probably would use bits and pieces, like a spell or prestige class.

I own the book, and I use it in my D&D campaign and in my Traveller campaign. Not everything in it, but bits and pieces here and there. I'm working on a D&D adventure using one of the magic items and two of the organizations in the book.

In our Traveller campaign, one of the characters is a seductress who uses her body to manipulate people. This character was created several months before the BoEF was released. There are several feats and skill applications in the book that help make that character more well-rounded and complete.
