D&D 5E (2014) Xanthian pun-spells

I don’t mean to derail the thread, but why do you say that? I remember reading at least one Xanth book back in the day and liked it (though I don’t actually remember much about it specifically)

I remembered liking the books as a kid. Reread the first three relatively recently. They DO NOT hold up. Specifically Anthony has some very, very problematic views re: women.

And if you read the later books, or some of his other works you realize he REALLY has problematic views on men and underage relationships that are very disturbing.

Just to add to the above, yeah, Piers Anthony wrote some pretty clearly pedo-porn books. Do not, under any circumstance, actually make the mistake of reading Firefly.

Clown - This spell makes an inert duplicate of a creature, albeit one with an innate penchant for wearing greasepaint, rubber noses, and obnoxiously oversized shoes. If the original individual has been slain, its soul immediately transfers to the clown, creating a replacement (provided that the soul is free and willing to return).

Like other artists . . . we have learned that Piers Anthony is a rather problematic individual. And when you go back and re-read the Xanth books and others by Anthony, you can't help but see some really uncomfortable stuff. Give it a Google . . . or better yet, don't.
