(YB) Nekokaburi Defeats Tiny (Ciaran Judged)

nekokaburi

First Post
After walking a day and night, Nekokaburi stops atop a small hillock, watching the first glow of dawn. Sensing that the time, and place are right, he stops. His destination, for the moment, found.

"Who will face my challenge? Who will pit themselves against my Blackfist Style?"

His challenge made, Nekokaburi pauses for a moment, then drops to sit cross-legged and await a challenger. This day will see battle.

A swirl of smoke, a glimmer of dawn light; a masked figure stands upon the hillock. He casts no shadow.

“Nekokaburi,” croaks the wizard. “I believe that I have something you want.” He draws a naked blade from his sash. Its tsuba bears the all-too-familiar sigil of a leaping wolf.

“Will you bargain for your ancestral blade, warrior?”

Nekokaburi watches the gentle swaying of the grass as he talks, eyes speaking of the dishonour he has yet to reconcile.

"A creature like you should inhabit the darkness of night, Shou Ren, not the dawn with its gift of hope and new beginnings."

"If it is a fight you seek, by the rules of this world of conflict I am bound to accept your answer, although I fear I am not ready to face you. But I could just as soon make a kimono from the night sky as bargain for the honour of my ancestral blade - speak your piece, and I shall know at least the surface of your intentions."

<font color="gray">OoC: If'n you're interested in a rematch, Ciaran, perhaps a non-style match would be best?</font>

A slow, almost mechanical chuckle echoes behind the mask. "By the laws of this place," drawls Shou Ren, "you may refuse any battle you wish. But of course, honor is another matter." He turns the blade this way and that, breaking the light upon its perfect edge.

"I make you this offer. Let us do battle. If you win, you may reclaim your blade. If I win, you shall serve me in all things for a year and a day.

"Well, warrior? What say you?"

<font color="gray">OoC: Sounds interesting, and it sure beats hanging around waiting for another challenger. Without risk, there is no drama. :) </font>

Experience and wisdom weigh against hope and foolishness, and are found wanting.

"A year and a day is an eternity to be beholden to one such as you, sorceror. I doubt my honour would survive such an ordeal. Should I win, I gain my ancestral blade, and you shall perform one favour of my choosing at one point in the future. And think upon the fact that it is <b>you</b> who sought me out."

The light plays on Nekokaburi's face as he watches Shou Ren turn the blade, almost hypnotised for a moment.

"And the blade shall play no part in our battle."

"So," the wizard hisses, "you count a year and a day of your service to be more valuable than your blade? Then perhaps I have overestimated its value. Nonetheless, the metal is fine, and suitable to enchantment; perhaps I shall hammer it into a collar for a succubus, or a bottle for an ifrit."

Shou Ren steps backward; his form grows translucent, like greasy parchment. "I shall not haggle," he says in a distant, windy voice. "Accept my bargain or not; there is no more to discuss."

"I have had enough of your tricks for now, Shou Ren. The blade means nothing if the last of my line to hold it sullies his honour in service of darkness, and in a year and a day one as foul as you could strip me entirely of honour. Threaten what you will, the blade will have none of it."

Nekokaburi rises smoothly to stand.

"In the mind of the samurai there is only victory, but I understand the meagre power I marshal in this realm. I am not ready to face you yet, sorceror, and have told you once not to seek me out. I am willing to cast that aside for battle, but will not take your bargain as it stands."

"If that is unacceptable, then so be it - it is an easily biddable servant that you seek, and not a fight. I am sure that our paths will cross again."

"Hey you... little guy with no sword.... wanna fight???"

Ryan is a large man..... 6'2" and about 380lbs.... kind of unkept and looks like someone no one would want to mess with.... he's here to get rich... and quick.... if you've got money... he's gonna try and take it from you in a not so nice way....

Nekokaburi eyes the scruffy giant before him impassively.

"Hai! I accept your challenge. I shall come looking for you another day, sorceror."

"Well, Tiny-san. Before we fight, you must know that <b>I find your children to be juvenile, your homeland to be lewd, and your attacking to be quaint.</b>"

<font color="gray">OoC: Thanks for the challenge, Ciaran, but the stakes attached to the fight were just too high.</font>

"The only thing more fun than beating you... would be to take your yen.... but I guessing you have none... so I'll have to settle you just beating up you little one...."

*Tiny lets out a loud laugh.....*

I find your gardener to be juvenile, your citadel to be rotted, and your sash to be given all of the thought one gives to breathing.

"And that's just a warmup little man... now the real fun begins....."

OOC: I'd like a short match if I win insults... 3 flag standard speed should do nicely.....:)

Don't forget to change the thread title and ask for a judge too Neko.... :D
