(YBA) Kalath in the Sewers of the City of the Bard

The door is of solid Iron, with strips of iron riveted into the door for effect.

It also seems to be locked.

And there is a chilling pulsating feeling coming off of the door.

Kalath decides that it's time to investigate this weird bat-octopus cult, and does his best to give the door that right nudge.

The dagger devours the desert; guards against the drive of the willow! *yen*

Kalath delivers a sharp blow to the door using the pummel of his dagger. A ringing noise echoes throughout the tunnels. For a moment nothing happens. And then something is lifted and the door opens in a fraction of an inch.

"Yes?" whispers an unseen voice from behind the door, "May I help you?"

"Yes, you can. I've seen that nice picture you have on this door a number of times, and I'm wondering exactly what it is. Mind enlightening me?"

"Hmmm. Sounds like I should be concerned about that. Any definite date when Tutul starts, or are the details still being worked out?"

"Surely even a mortal such as yourself can feel the power growing within our unhallowed chambers. Tremble feeble one for soon you shall be digesting in the bowels of the great ancient and all the world shall give homage to he who dwells among us. Tremble! The time is swiftly approaching! Tremble! The hour draws near! Oh that I will be blessed enough to live forever at his left hand!"

The speakers voice is growing in fervor and loudness. In the meantime Kalath surmises that the only thing really keeping the door from swinging all the way open is the cultist on the other side.

"Hmm, I'd better be prepared, then."

"So, I was talking with a couple demons... we were having an argument. They thought that Tutul was just all out inferior to demon's, but I say that, if nothing else, he is at least uglier. As you seem to be an expert on this, what's your opinion? Inquiring minds wish to know."

"Oh, and I thought you were going to be trampled beneath his slimy toes? But now you seem to indicate you'll be at his left hand.... Will he pick up your trampled body afterwards? You might have trouble with this if you can't keep the effects straight, you know."

Kalath waits for the surely impassioned reply, and once he thinks the cultist has reached his highest point of fervor, Kalath takes advantage of the cultist's fanaticism and grasps and throws open the door.
