(YBA) Lovecraft in the Cathayan Tombs

Trying to bull rush him self through. Lovecraft crashes into the roots and tries to wriggle into the tunnel beyond.

The crane thrusts the city; fends off the energy of the river!

You push against the tangled roots, clawing at them until they part enough to force your way through. As the roots catch at your legs, you scrabble for purchase at the stone floor beyond until your hands bleed. Finally, you break through and crawl into the darkness beyond.

You fumble your way into the darkness. Your lacerated hands burn as you scrape them on the damp stones of the tunnel floor. Behind you, the roots draw tight over the passage opening.

After a minute, you run into a wall. You determine by touch that you can follow the wall in either direction. Behind you, you can see a very faint, striated blue glow. All else is blackness.

(You gain 1 hit defeated for surviving and escaping the roots and vines.)

"Well this has started to become something of a expedition." says Lovecraft. While battered and burned, he still keeps a level head. "Lets see if I can find a way out of here." Lovecraft turns to the left and follows the wall.

You head to the left. You trail the fingers of your right hand along the wall to keep yourself on course. A moment later, the blue light beyond the roots disappears from view, leaving you in utter and unrelenting darkness. The air smells dank and musty. After plashing through a couple of puddles, the ground becomes flat and dry.

As you walk, the wall curves to your left. You feel irregularities in the otherwise smooth surface. It occurs to you that these must be inscriptions, perhaps in the old Cathayan script. Who knows what secrets they might reveal, if only you could read them? But you can do nothing but stumble along in darkness...

After you have walked a short ways, the wall opens up on your right. Feeling around indicates that this is an archway; the passage continues on ahead of you. Which way do you choose?

You step through the archway. Feeling past the edges of the arch, you determine that the wall continues in both directions on this side of the archway. Presumably this is either a room, or a passageway running roughly parallel to the one you just left. No sound comes to your ears other than the sounds of your breath and your beating heart.

What do you do?

You follow the wall to your right. Carvings slip smoothly under your fingertips. The wall curves, and after walking for a very short period of time you once again encounter an archway. Either this is a very small room, or this is a different exit; it's impossible to be sure, but from the curvature you'd guess this to be the way you came in.

The air here is quite stale. Unlike the hallway, you don't feel even the slightest touch of a breeze.
