You finally shake off the manticore knight, but take 3 hits in the process. Finally, you reach the last line of troops, and know that as soon as you get past them, you’re home free… except for the archers and the mounted troops. An awful lot of effort to deal with a single elf, but then, you’re clearly no ordinary elf.

At the center of the line, between the rows of spearmen, stands a thin man in dark leathers. He looks bored. “Whoever you are,” he shouts over the din of the troops, “you’re causing an awful lot of trouble. You might as well give up now and spare us the inconvenience of beating you into submission.”

Run Away!

The chain breaks the city as it shredsthe Obsidian Tower; removes the violence of the tree!

Shove: Rogue

Monderefal continues running. Throwing a Flare spell in the eyes of the rogue as he runs.

You call up a brilliant flare of light, blinding the rogue and all the soldiers around you. Pushing past the last rank of soldiers, you break into a run. As you glance behind you, you see the horsemen beginning to advance... and you see the first volley of arrows leap into the air. They descend around you like silvery rain.

(Generate a move to determine how much damage you avoid from the first volley of arrows.)

The cherry blossom assaults the ruins; quells the drive of the bird!

Monderefal keeps on running as fast as he can.

Arrows whistle past you. Many of them fly wide, while others zip just over your head as you lean forward into your run. Still, an arrow buries itself into your side and another couple of arrows graze you, inflicting 4 hits.

Behind you, the horsemen are moving at a walk, keeping far enough back that they don't wander into the archers' line of fire. Bowstrings twang as the second volley of arrows soars towards you.

(Generate another move for the second volley of arrows.)

The kama aggresively tramples the island; redirects the terror of the barrens!

Chi 12

Monderefal bursts into a run trampling the ground beneath him.

Most of the arrows fall behind you as you put on a burst of speed, but you are still struck for 3 hits.

As you near the limit of the bows' range, a final volley wobbles towards you. At the same time, you hear the thud of hooves grow louder behind you, as a small detachment of cavalry heads in your direction. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see that the main mass of the army has already begun marching away -- towards Redrock? -- but you have more than enough problems without worrying about that, too.

(Generate a move to minimize the damage from the last volley of arrows. After that, you'll have to unhorse a rider, generate a move to get its horse under control, and then make a successful Get Away attempt. Good luck, and try to avoid attacking entire armies in the future.)

The fist vanquishes the pillars; averts the rising of the storm!

Monderefal keeps running trying to lure the rider outside arrow range.

The last few arrows spiral to earth around you. Only one arrow gets close enough to do any harm, and you disdainfully flick it out of the air with one hand. Then the riders come in, and you are forced to stand at bay, lest they trample you to the ground from behind.

Foremost among the riders is a great bull of a man, unarmored but for a gleaming shield, who swings a luminous sword over his head and roars, "For Sarras!" Sarras, you dimly recall, is one of the better-regarded of the human gods worshipped in this part of the world. The rogue you blinded earlier rides behind him (he must have grabbed a horse while you were dodging arrows), followed by a handful of mounted soldiers.
