(YBA) Monderefal in the 100 Kingdoms

(Sorry about that; I somehow managed to thorougly confuse myself with regard to the whole day/location issue. It's only 2 hits.)

Horse: The willow stands from the labyrinth; blocks the blood of the reptile!

You manage to get the second horse under control and pull yourself into the saddle. As you start to pull away, that damnable rogue grabs hold of you and almost drags you from the saddle! You break free, but not before he sticks another dagger into your side. Between that and a soldier’s spear, you take a total of 3 hits. The rogue starts to unlimber some sort of hand crossbow as you put spurs to the horse’s flanks.

Now is your chance to escape... if you can!

Paladin (18/18): The mantis tranquilly withers the hells; fends off the motion of the sands!
Fist of Fury: The lotus blossom drifts close to the swamp; dominates the tempest of the crevice! (5 chi)

Mounted Soldier #3 (3/3): The raven punches with the tombs; shreds the cut of the maze!

Mounted Soldier #4 (3/3): The hidden chimera drops above the cavern; parries the thrust of the insect!

Rogue (13/13): Chair Shot!

Hits 3
Chi 2

(OOC- Hoo boy this is gonna be interesting)

The trident overwhelms the waterfall; removes the throw of the club!
Shove: Paladin

Monderefal grabs the reins and attempts to ride off.

Paladin: Purity of Focus! (4 chi)

The crossbow twangs and hammers a bolt into your shoulder. You attempt to knock the paladin aside and burst for safety, but he ignores your blow and presses forward, sword raised. You feel the bite of a spear in your flank as the sword blazes before you, rising and falling… and everything goes black.

You have taken 4 hits. Whoops.

You regain consciousness. Grassy earth bounces and throbs as it whisks past you… an earthquake? No. You find yourself bound, gagged and slung over the back of a horse, just behind a mounted man. Flexing your muscles, you note that the bonds are strong, but that your wounds seem to be gone. On the other hand, the same might be said of your sword, shield and armor. So it goes.

After a while, you feel the horse’s rider turn in his saddle. “Ah,” says the paladin in a thick, low voice. “You’re awake.”

OOC- What happens with the Hits Defeated ?

Monderefal groans "Yes it seems so. I don't suppose you would care to explain to me why you aren't the evil army I was told was here?"

You try to speak, but the gag muffles your words.

“I apologize for the rude treatment,” says the paladin, “but we can’t have you casting spells. You’ll have your chance to speak once we reach the army and can better keep you under guard.”

(I'm not sure what happens to your Hits Defeated. I expect that you keep them, but you should double-check with Wicht before you level up.)

(That's fine, as long as you beat an epic foe at some point after you achieved 16 natural hits. You haven't fought any enemies with CR 17+ in this adventure, so I assume that occured before you started this adventure? Also, you still have the Heavenly Aura, since there's no way that someone could confiscate it. :-D Assuming that the Moon's Eye is some sort of talisman rather than a mundane weapon, you would still have that as well.)

You ride on for a time, not really sure of your location or the distance travelled; your current perspective doesn't lend itself well to judging such things. After a while, the paladin speaks again.

"We'll have to keep you bound until we've cleared the area outside the walls and dug in for the siege, I expect," he rumbles. "Osberry is a fair-minded lord, but he must take into account the possibility that you might act against us, and he can scarcely spare a mage to interrogate you properly just now. For my part, I doubt that you serve the Three Lords; I can feel the power upon you, and it is without taint. But Osberry has trouble enough with elves, and there will be little trust for -- Hark! What goes?"

He reins the horse in sharply, jolting you hard; you would surely be thrown if you were not tied in place. Distantly, you hear the blare of horns, war cries, the clash of arms, and terrible howls of no human origin. Another jolt comes as the horse leaps into motion once more. "Ambush in the pass!" the paladin shouts to his companions. "Surely we are betrayed. Ride, ride to our lord's rescue!"

From afar, you hear the rogue's reply: "Another suicide mission. Hurrah."
