A elderly man dressed in the livery of the township of Tavistal nails a piece of fine parchment to the notice board in the town square. It reads the following:

Let it be known. Ammela, the daughter of the Burgermeister of Tavistal has been stung by a Glided Scarab. This poisonous creature is not native to our lands and it's posion is fatal yet slow in action. If a antidote is not found within two cycles of the moon, she will surely die. The Burgermeister Herr Bloombald calls for a stalward and brave person to travel to The Crossroads, a city on The Caravan Road some 200 miles away to purchase a antidote. With the increased Nightfang activity in the mountains and the danger of the Sun's Anvil desert beyond this will be a dangerous task. A large reward will be given to any who can return with the anitdote. Anyone interested please inquire at the town hall.

A short, broad fellow with a deceptively mild face peruses the notice. “A large reward?” he says quietly, scratching his chin. “That sounds appealing.”

The man walks towards the town hall.

It is a beautiful summer day in the quant town of Tavistal. The sky is clear save for a few wispy clouds to the east. A pleasant cool breeze blows softly carries the scent of the pine wood forest which surrounds the town. The buildings of the town are tall gabled wooden structures surrounded by low white stone walls. Townfolk go about their chores. Children laugh and play in the streets and neat gardens of the town. It is easy to find the town hall. It is a grand two story building on the north end of town. A lone guardsmen in studded leather leans on his spear at the front doors of the hall. He raised a eye brow as you near. "How my I help you sir?" he says.

The short fellow bows. "I am Oskarn the Traveler," he replies, "and I come seeking employment with the Burgermeister."

"Herr Bloombald's office is through this door, down the hall and it's the second door to your right, Sir. Please knock before you enter though." With that he opens the door to the town hall for you.

OOC: Is this a new character? Could you post his stats and equipment please.

"Thank you." Oskarn tips his hat to the guard and enters the town hall, keeping a sharp eye out for unattended valuables. When he reaches the Burgermeister's office, he knocks as per his instructions.

After you knock on the door, a muffled voice yells "Be right with you!" and after some shuffling in the room the door opens. You see a short heavy set man in his mid 50's. He is well dressed with numerous gold rings and jewelry. His face is round with a large red nose. Greying black hair is swept across his balding head. His eyes are grey with deep worry lines around them. With a deep voice he says, "Why hello there Sir. You must be new to town because I never forget a face. Come, Come, please sit and tell me what you need." He gestures to a plush chair and he in turn sits behind a large finely made wooden desk. His office is richly decorated with paintings and small pieces of art. A large grandfather cloak stands in a corner next to a empty fireplace. A huge wolfhound sleeps on a elaborate rug in the center of the room. "Oh where are my manners, I am the Burgermeister of this fair village, Henrick Bloombald. Would you care for a brandy?"

"Good day to you, Herr Bloombald. I am Oskarn, called the Traveler, and I have heard that you seek a courier to travel to The Crossroads."

Oskarn seats himself on the proferred chair and accepts the brandy, tasting it while he awaits the Burgermeister's response.

You can tell that the brandy is of the finest quality. The Burgermeister looks at you for a moment. He seems to be sizing you up. "Yes, Yes, I am looking for a resourceful individual to go to The Crossroads and aquire a anitdote from a alchemist there. My daughter, Ammela has been stung by a very venomous creature and she will surely die if the antidote is not returned in about two months time." I have already sent one of my loyal guardsmen on this task but I have just found out that he has had his throat cut in a inn not 2 days from here. I fear that persons unknown are conspiring to keep anyone from returning with the anidote." He pauses to take a healthy drink from his glass of brandy. "I must ask you before I continue, are you in any way involved wth the people responsible for the kiling of my guardsman?"

With that you feel alittle light headed. The brandy must be a potent one. (For the length of the talk with the burgermeister you can only speak the truth)
