As for the International sales...It's frikkin GI JOE! I think they're crazy if they expect anything beyond US sales here. If they want to make an Action Force movie, make an Action Force movie, but leave GI Joe alone! *grump*
Huh?

I don't even know what is meant by Action Man here, but I used to read Action Force and I always thought that that was just G.I.Joe with the title changed? Or are there other differences? Storm Shadow is still Storm Shadow, right?

And Joseph Gordon Levitt is in talks to be Cobra Commander.

I like JGL... Brick was an awesome movie. But Cobra Commander? No, just no. Who's next, Haley Joel Osment as Destro?

without getting overtly political
is making a movie about American military 'heroes' fighting evil terrorist a good idea given the current 'situation'?

They are destroying GI Joe to serve international audiences like you who have a problem with the US or US policy. What this really is is a EU Force movie marketed in the USA under the false pretenses that its GI Joe, after killing the real Gi Joe and taking its stuff.

This movie must have Serpentor in it! This, I command! ;)

Seriously though, so long as it has great actors for Cobra Commander and Destro, I'll be satisfied.

There is a market for GI Joe in europe, I grew up with the toys, cartoon, and later the comics (american comics were expensive and difficult to get at the time). As long as they stay away from that US nationaistic crap that keeps poping up in movies these days, it'll do fine in europe.

While the comics did touch 'other' enemies then cobra, the toys and the cartoons really didn't. What was cool (to us) about GI Joe, wasn't that they were 'real american'. It was because Cobra was a cool enemy, they were clearly designated as 'evil', and GI Joe were the good guys, the 'heroes' (that they were american wasn't really important to any kid around here). These days the US nationalism isn't really welcomed in europe, if it apears in a movie or series, it tends to spread fast and generally hurts the reviews, and thus sales.

Destro => Sean Connery
They really need to have a lot of the classic Cobra troops and vehicles, but i expect a lot of new stuff (just to sell a new toy line).

Close. David Murray will be cast as Destro. He's the "jumpy guy" in Batman Begins.

Odd. Vosloo would have been a better Destro than Zartan, and this David Murray would have been a better Zartan than Destro.

If Arnold Vosloo makes it into the role, then that a confirmed sale on my end. :cool:

There were some serious story changes, actually.

Different characters, some of the shared characters had different origins, Red Shadows were the major villains (at first), etc. There was a set of GI Joe comics that just had GI Joe replaced with Action Force, but for the most part they were their own continuity.
