You are arrested and thrown in prison, what do you do now?

In our last session we were arrested and thrown in a cell (a reoccuring theme in this campaign) without any of our stuff. I know this is a fairly common situation in D&D but its a first for our party. What clever tricks have worked in your games? The party is 4th level and consists of a half orc barbarian, a human rogue, a halfling wizard, and a human cleric3/wizard1. Thanks for the help.

A ) Twenty years later...

B ) Wizard spellbooks are probably taken, but cleric can still pray for spells. A well-placed Command spell (Fall or Approach) might allow the keeper of the key to come within reach of the cell door. (I'm thinking metal bars here) Rogue makes a pickpocket attempt to grab the key undetected. Guards might be upset with cleric and punish him, but they may not think to search the rogue. Later, when the guards leave you use the key to escape.

C ) Have the barbarian rage and attempt to break out.

D ) Whine a lot. Either your DM will punish you or give you something to shut you up (like a way out perhaps?). Not guaranteed to work, but it might be better than option A.

A bit more insight.

The barbarian has one more rage for the day so I suppose that could work. The leader of the city is now a puppet of the corrupt church that wants us dead. Our wizard is an illusionist and doesnt have access to fly or invisibility at the moment so that hurts a bit. I think the worst thing is that we just got out of a battle. Unless we can come up with something pretty rad or we get some suprise help we will have to escape during transit or face execution. I dont believe that it will get to the point of death because we didnt do anything stupid to deserve that not to mention our DM wouldnt do that to us. Thanks for the ideas, keep em coming.

...It just takes one invisibility to affect an object under which everyone can hide...but its unlikely to be available, so I did say "If this is feasible";)

Wouldn't the guard, like, see right through that invisible object they were hiding behind??

Under, not behind. Like when a PC packs objects into his pocket and they go invisible with him...
Y'know, if you're invisible you're also blind.

If light passes through you, then your eyes can't absorb the light.

1) Have the rogue try to pick the lock. Without picks, this will likely fail, but leave marks of an attempt to escape. Make sure s/he's doing this the next time a guard comes by.

2) Have the cleric alert the guard of the escape attempt and order the guard to manacle the rogue. At this point, the cleric should begin to loudly vilify the rest of the party, proclaiming their doom at the hands of the corrupt church.

3) The barbarian should immediately attack the cleric and call him a traitor. Accuse the cleric of causing the party's defeat in some past endeavor by betraying them.

4) Continue violent ruckus until guards separate you. If needed, the cleric should demand to be taken to the church leaders, using knowledege (religion) to fake membership.

a) Trustees can more easily escape. If the cleric can get the party's stuff, he can help them escape and maybe even pin the escape on a guard if he can prove previous wrongdoing on the guard's behalf.

b) Even if the rest of the party doesn't escape, at least one party member might manage to rally help from other adventurers.

c) Worst case scenario: everybody dies, but at least you'll go down roleplaying.

Yup, hopefully they have good Listen checks! ;)
How do you listen for walls or a door?
"I'm... *kunk* trying... *kunk* to get out... *kunk*... I hate this darn spell."
