You know what I want? Bollywood d20.

Lately I've been watching all the Indian movies I can get my hands on, and there's got to be a gaming book in there somewhere. Occupations, Advanced Classes and Feats based on Bollywood cliche, GMing advice on capturing the feel of the source material (including advice on running big song-and-dance numbers), an overview on contemprorary India and a chapter on Bombay as a game setting, and finish off with a filmography. I'd buy it in a second.

I wonder if GURPS India will give any support for Bollywood roleplaying?

Could you point me to an overview on Bollywood? I assume that is has as many distinctive characteristics, conventions, and cliches as Hong Kong cinema...but I really can't say I've ever watched any...

Here's one:

And here's a tongue in cheek primer on Hollywood for Bollywood fans:

But really, no one can be told what Bollywood is. You have to experience it for yourself.

when is GURPS India coming out? i've been hearing it's "on the horizon" for the past 4 years or so...

isn't Green Ronin coming out with a fantasy Indian/SE Asian setting soon?

Last I checked, it GURPS India was back to square one and off the schedule, after the then-designer turned in a draft that just didn't cut it.

And yes, they are.

It might interest you to know Bollywood's output dwarfs that of Hollywood, with Bollywood producing anywhere from 3 to 5 times what Hollywood produces in a given year. For example, one recent year (I forget which), Bollywood produced something like 800 films, as opposed to Hollywood's tally of around 200 that same year. It's an enormous film industry over there.

I love to see anything and all things on India. It has great Myths, great Religions,a great history. And now it is a atomic power it is is good for spy games. There are one billion living souls there;about one sixth of the world pop.Someone please do something with this great nation.elforcelf.

Colonel Hardisson is quite correct. Bombay, India is the seat of a longer film tradition than the dream poison factory here in America. Industrial film production started here in New Jersey, then they moved everything to California.

Hong Kong also has a long standing film tradition. Historical accounts of HK film slot their beginnings back 50 years. All three produce B-movies like nothing else (together), but apparently both India and America have been striving to produce more A-movies than you can shake a fist at.
