D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

B) 18-14-14-14-14-3

A) every time

In 5e, that's awesome array. Hell, in any edition, that's awesome array. You are above average in every aspect. Also, with racial ability adjustment, you can have 16 and one or two 15s, or any other combo. That's pretty good for tier 1.

Personally, i always liked more well rounded characters, than max out stat or two and then dump stat or two.

As for my personal reaction, it would depend on who I was playing with and what mindset I was in at the time. I could see myself thinking any of the possible options.

When I was a kid, I was the DM for our AD&D 2e group. One day my best friend called me to tell me he was making characters for fun and just rolled six 18's in a row. He wanted to know if he could use that character. I said, no, of course not! (I was in middle school at this time, so maybe 12-13 years old).

Old man me would 100% say yes. Why not? Maybe it will be boring, but if so, just make a new character! And if not, it will be memorable! I don't know- my philosophy has changed so much over the years.

Yeah really putting the 3 in CON is absolutely the smart play here if the DM won't allow you to re-roll it for some reason.
